A2490226 Miso *Shutdown*
Miso is an 8-year-old neutered male, 11.5 lbs, owner-surrendered due to his owner’s passing. Upon kennel interactions, he was initially calm and relaxed but appeared unsure of his surroundings. He came forward to sniff staff’s fingers and allowed gentle petting on the top of his head and around his ears, leaning into attention when scratched in those areas. He seemed uncertain about being touched around his neck and shoulders and calmly observed staff as they closed his door.
During interactions, Miso appeared slightly scared but remained mostly crouched and feigning sleep in his kennel. He sniffed staff’s fingers and allowed head petting but showed no interest in liquid cat treats. He continued to display inappetence, crouched posture, and squinting of the right eye, raising concern for a potential herpes flare-up secondary to shelter stress. Overall, Miso is quiet, withdrawn, and appears to be shut down in the shelter environment. What he needs now is a rescue who can help him get out of the shelter environment to decompress and find a loving home. Please let us know if you can help.
