🐾 Meet J. Buffett Wetsell!

Well, look who finally found his forever Margaritaville! 🏝️🐾

For the longest time, my name was Biggie, and I was holding down the fort while waiting for my real adventures to begin. People used to say I was "larger than life," but little did they know, I was just saving all my big love for the exact right humans.
And let me tell you, I hit the jackpot. My new name is J. Buffett Wetsell ❤️, and my happily ever after story is officially underway!
Now I’ve traded in the shelter hustle for prime window-perching, premium chin scratches, and a forever home where the vibes are always island-time relaxed. I’ve already inspected every square inch of my new kingdom, claimed the best sleeping spots, and trained my humans to deliver top-tier affection on demand. (Hey, some things are non-negotiable!)
A massive thank you to everyone who looked past my "big" title and knew there was a whole lot of love just waiting to sail in. To all my rescue friends still waiting for their big break: hang in there, your boat is coming in soon! ⛵✨

Hi everyone, it’s us—the crew of rescue cats currently safe, loved, and waiting for our next chapter!

To be completely honest with you all, things have been a little tough behind the scenes lately. Between a few recent medical emergencies for some of our friends who needed extra care, our rescue funds have gotten pretty depleted. On top of that, donations have slowed down quite a bit over the past few weeks.
We know there is so much going on in the world right now, and everyone has a lot on their plates. But right now, we can’t take in or help more animals in urgent need until we can rebuild our safety net.
Every single dollar truly makes a difference. Whether it’s enough to help cover a bag of food, a round of medicine, or put toward our next vet bill, your support means we can keep our doors open for the next cat who needs us just as much as we did.

Hey everyone, it’s Buddy here... 🐾
I wish I had better news to share with you all today, but my heart feels pretty heavy. I've been trying so hard to get better, but my latest bloodwork and urinalysis results are still not normal. Because my little body is still fighting so hard, the doctor says I have to keep going back for bloodwork and urinalysis every single month.
As a rescue kitty, I never wanted to be a burden, but staying alive and fighting this takes so much. Between my recent check-ups, specialized tests, and medications, my medical care has added up to $1,348.50 across just my last 7 invoices. And on top of these new bills, we are still struggling to cover the remaining balance of over $2,000 from our original $2,600 fundraiser.
It gets so scary wondering if we'll be able to afford the care I need to keep going. But knowing I have my rescue family looking out for me gives me a little glimmer of hope. If you can help me stay in this fight—whether by sharing my story or chipping in toward my mounting medical bills—I would be forever grateful. Thank you for not giving up on me... 💙🐱

Hey everyone, it’s Nala!

I wanted to let you all know that my seventeen-year-old body finally started shutting down, but it happened gently and peacefully, surrounded by the kind of love every rescue pet dreams of. Even though I didn’t quite make it to my permanent adoptive home before it was time to go, please don't be sad for me. I spent my final chapter with my foster meowmmy, Laura, who took such incredible care of me and made sure I felt deeply cherished every single second.

I want to give the biggest, most heartfelt thank you to Laura, and to all of our amazing fosters who open their hearts and homes to us. You are our absolute heroes, holding our paws when our forever families haven't found us yet.

From up here on the sunny side of the bridge, I'm looking down at all my friends still waiting here at United Paws Rescue—especially our travelers who made the long journey up from Central Florida and all across the country looking for a fresh start. They are waiting for their turn to find their forever humans just like I was.
If you want to honor my memory, please don't let it stop with me. Open your home to foster, support rescue pets, and give a home to someone who is still waiting.

🐾 Biggie’s Story: The Gentleman Waiting in the Shadows

Hi friends... it’s me again, Biggie.
I see them all come and go. Every weekend, cages get emptied, carriers click shut, and happy meows echo down the hallway as another cat finds their forever family. I watch from my spot, giving them a polite little nod and wishing them well. But then the room goes quiet again, and I’m still here.
People look at my face and my big old tomcat cheeks and sometimes they walk right past. They don’t know that beneath this rugged exterior beats the heart of an absolute romantic. I don't ask for much—just a soft bed, some gentle head scratches (which make my tail point straight up in the air, as you can see!), and a human to call my own.
Our rescue friends even brought in a professional photographer to try and show everyone how handsome I am. They dressed up the room, brought out the good treats, and told me to look my best. Did it work? Did my prince or princess see me yet?
It hurts a little bit to feel invisible, especially when you have so much love left to give. I might not be a tiny kitten anymore, and I might have a face that tells a story, but I promise you won't find a more loyal, loving gentleman in all of Central Florida.

Hi everyone, it's Tiffy again! 👑🐾

I am still waiting for my royal decree to be answered, so my humans and I decided to try something a little bit fancy. They let me experiment with some AI photo generators to see if giving myself a regal digital makeover might finally help catch my future subject—er, adopter's—eye!
Not gonna lie, some of these AI portraits make me look like a majestic feline queen ruling over a grand estate. While I'm normally a humble, sweet-natured lady who is just looking for a cozy lap, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do when she's trying to find her proper castle!

Let’s review my royal qualifications:
* Current Status: Officially ready to move into my forever palace and completely recovered from my past struggles.

🚨 BUDDY'S BIG BILL & A PLEA FOR HELP 🚨

Hi everyone, it's me, Buddy. You might remember me from just a few days ago when I finally left the shelter behind. I’m such a good boy, and I was so excited for my fresh start, but getting to safety has been a rocky road health-wise.
Shortly after I was rescued, my tummy started causing me massive, painful issues, and I had to be rushed to the Veterinary Emergency Clinic of Central Florida. Let me tell you, that place is amazing, but the life-saving care I needed isn't cheap. That first emergency stay alone cost $2,397.00.
Since then, I've had to go to two more hospitals just to get the medications and follow-up exams I need to stay on the road to recovery. That included a prescription from Pharmacy on the Park for $175.00 and an extended exam with more diagnostics at Polo Park Animal Hospital for $255.00.
That brings the total for my emergency care and follow-ups to $2,827.00. 🐾 Once I am feeling better I also have to go to the Kit Kat Dentist! I have 4 fractured canine teeth and grade 3 dental disease . But I know before I know it my teeth with be pearly white!
My new rescue family stepped up without hesitation because they believe I'm worth it, but that's a huge bill for a small rescue like ours. It really cuts into the funds needed to save other kitties who are still waiting for their miracle.
I know times are tough, but if you have even a few dollars to spare to help chip away at my veterinary bills, it would mean the world to me and the rest of the United Paws crew. Every little bit helps get us back on track to save more lives.
