We decided to stop in at a sporthorse show a couple weeks ago when we were in Colorado for the USEF Developing Horse event. Both Fendi (“Broodmare class” & Barbarella “Sporthorse Prospect,” were Champions in their respective divisions, w/Barbarella beating an approved stallion, even!)

My job was basically groom, because I had the über-talented, fleet afoot Bruce Griffin III aka Turtle run my two long-legged ladies, to show them to their best effect.

Not going to give up saddle time for this but it was cool to see them shine in a different way. Thanks to the Coors family for hosting & Heather & Gwen for making the magic happen. And thanks to for the gorgeous photos!

Dang. It’s always exciting when you bring in the 2yo’s for a shakedown.

Tetris W (Gaudi x Wynton/Dacaprio,) was bred to be a Grand Prix horse & we kept her knowing she would manifest that!

Want a horse that has that look-at-me quality, on top of excellent gaits? Here’s your girl. Offered to a 5* home, professionals given priority, to bring her to her potential. 🤩

Love this mare. Emeres (UB40 x Idocus) is all business, totally consistent. All I have to do is show up for her. 💜

Pics from the show mid June where she did her first Intermediate 1. She capped the weekend w a score of almost 68%, and I couldn’t be more proud of her. (I rode the pirouettes like a mannequin, but I’ll do better next time, Em!) grateful for summer days, motivated mares & always another centerline.

Barbarella getting the big numbers in her Materiale & 4yo test a couple of weeks ago at Les Bois Dressage. Pulling off a 9 in the walk & 8.5 in trot & overall Perspective is no small feat!

We have been toying with the idea of going to Lamplight, but I think we are going to sit tight this year & aim for 5yo tests next year. Just a lot going on & we have other horses also needing our attention, turns out!

But Wee Barbarella was a complete star, alongside her mother Fendi & auntie Fitzerella. What a cool young horse to bring along.

If you know this horse, you will understand what a *huge accomplishment this open throatlatch and honest reach through the back are!! Ditto for the quiet rideability you see in the tempi changes. He is all heart, this guy, never stops trying. 💖 His only flaw is that he tries too hard (and then gets completely out of sorts as he tries to charge about!)

Days 1 & 2 of the show, nerves got the best of him, but by day 3, we figured out our warmup & scored 69% in his Intermediate 1 test.

Looking forward to the future with sweet Dante. 💜🥂

We can’t overstate how proud we are of this mare: Emeres (UB40 x Idocus,) in her first PSG, scoring over 70% from 2 different judges in Colorado a couple of weeks ago.

Outside of some very nice scores, the comments from the judges ranged from “a pleasure to watch,” to “what an incredible mare: I love her kind & trusting expression,” which really sums up how we feel about her.

She’s still getting stronger in the work & we are already excited for next steps. See you guys out there next year. 🥂🦾🫶🏽 (not included, pictures of me crying while we exit the arena 💖)
