Shorting down my herd. Nothing wrong with them. Just need new hay. Life is getting very busy. As much as I love them I dont think it’s far to keep as many as I have with as little time i have at the moment.

Here are buns I have available now! The vc/vm are ready to leave today as well as wildOne.
WildOne definitely fits her name lol but very sweet overall. Just a great escape artist and full of personality! She’s not a great type I just want to get out of the Dutch. Trying to shorten my list of buns lol.
I have two does that will be retiring to the freezer aswell. Alixe her last two litters has been attacking her kits after 3-4 weeks old and hurting them. Ophelia produced a splay legged baby and I will not carry that on in my program. (I know it wasn’t the buck that carries the splay bc he has had multiple litters.)
I am giving Alixe one last chance with a litter and if she does the same thing as the last two she will be soup.

Oopsie litter update.

Well very upsetting news.
The little tri has splay leg. I have started to splint her legs and we will see her progress in a couple weeks. Hopefully this will get better. I will continue to take pictures every week to see if there is progress or not.

Out of our little oopise litter with Ophelia and Buck. These two were our only survivors. The other chocolate was a peanut (I’ve never had a peanut so I didn’t really know what one looked like at birth) but the poor thing did not grow and at day three or four did pass. Just yesterday I did dispatch the black otter it was a fail to thrive. I’m not sure what really happened it was just as big as the others but over the last two or three days it slowly started to fail. I couldn’t watch it suffer any longer.

the good news we have a broken chocolate otter and a tri! I have never produced either and I was super excited to see these guys thriving!

We had a very unexpected litter yesterday.
I moved cages around quite a while ago. 2-3 months ago. Made more space getting everyone ready to go into the new shed.
With that. I put a doe and a buck directly next to each other. Didn’t have an issue never even thought it would be a problem.
Until last night.
Sadly this was my mistake.
I didn’t want to breed this doe yet either. She is very timid. Scared of everything and everyone.
(I did not raise her I got her after she was not treated properly) this year was kind of a turn around she was happy being held and didn’t run away from me anymore. So I thought maybe next year we’d get it a try.
As I wasn’t expecting this she wasn’t given a nesting box or anything to keep the babies in plus this is her first litter. We have 4 babies I’m hoping she will start to feed them. They were still alive this morning. She didn’t seem like she would feed them though sadly. I don’t have any mommas to put them with since these are fresh babies. If I have to step in and feed them a couple times a day I absolutely will but I have never had luck in survival rates like that.
I definitely will never make this mistake again!
This is Ophelia and Bucks litter.
