We need YOUR help 🫵🏼🐾

To continue intake after our two-month break, we need foster placements lined up before we can bring any new animals into rescue.

We currently have two animals entering their FOURTH month in rescue who are still desperately searching for their forever homes.

In addition, we have one male pitty ready to come into rescue, but he cannot be brought in without a committed foster.

Sadly, there are many more animals in surrounding areas who need help—but we can only say yes if we have safe places for them to land.

Here’s where we need help most:

• Fairbanks: We need local fosters to provide warm, loving homes while our furry friends wait for adoption.

• Anchorage: We need short-term fosters who can help by picking up pets from the airport and holding them until transportation to Fairbanks is arranged.

Our happy boy Trigger is in need of a very specific foster or foster-to-adopt home—one that can better support his mobility needs than my home currently can. 💙

Trigger needs a home with little to no stairs and one with more carpet than hard flooring. He has difficulty with his back legs and tends to slip on hardwood. After a bad fall in December, he’s had a harder time getting around, even with medication.

Despite this, Trigger remains the same joyful, loving boy—still doing his happy hops and greeting each day with a wagging tail. However, his quality of life is being impacted by my home setup, especially the hardwood floors and porch stairs, and he deserves an environment where he can move more safely and comfortably.

Finding the right space for Trigger would make a world of difference for him. 🐾

Rhubarb has been ADOPTED! 🥹🩵

She holds the record as our longest resident so far—91 days 🤯—but every single one of those days was worth it for this incredible ending. Rue has officially found her forever home and is living her best life as an only dog.

Dogs with dog aggression can be harder to place, as there are fewer homes looking for just one furry companion. But when her adopters met Rue, they instantly fell in love—and it was obvious she fell just as hard 🥹

Rue is a pup we all absolutely adored. In fact, 3 out of 3 of her fosters tried to adopt her, but couldn’t due to her dog aggression.

We are beyond excited for her new family and this beautiful new chapter.

She deserves this more than words can say 🩵

The 2025 season comes to an end… and the 2026 season will soon begin — with a NEW NAME 🥳✨

This announcement has been months in the making. After a period of almost (😬) no intake, we are finally able to share something we’ve been working through with intention, care, and a lot of reflection — and I couldn’t be more excited 🤩

Long story short: Pink Paw Project will always be part of our story and our foundation, but it no longer represents who we are today or the direction we are moving forward.

Long story long 😅 — the last few months have been messy, emotional, and full of honest conversations. During this transition, we revisited why this rescue was started in the first place. Pink Paw was created to be a safe space. We wanted to be a group you could come to with questions, concerns, or life challenges and be met with grace, understanding, and support — a rescue that cared deeply about animals and people. That core value has not changed. It is something we will always carry forward, regardless of our name.

So… why Golden Heart?

Yes, it’s a familiar name — but it’s us. Three of our four board members were born and raised in the Interior and carry the Golden Heart everywhere they go. We wanted a name that reflects who we are and the community we proudly serve.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Pink Paw Team 🩷

As we celebrate the holidays with our families and furry friends, this will be our final post of the year.

In 2025, we were honored to rescue 46 animals, giving them safety, care, and a second chance at life—and we can’t wait to help even more in 2026!

We’ve also been working on a very big surprise, and we’re so excited to share it with you in the new year. Stay tuned… the best is yet to come! 🎉🐾

Did you know Luna is still available for adoption? She’s been in rescue for nearly three months and has received zero applications—and we just can’t understand why.

Luna is a two-year-old, unknown mixed breed who came to us from a difficult situation, scared and unsure of the world. With patience, love, and consistency, she has truly blossomed. Today, Luna is confident, happy, and ready to begin the next chapter of her life.

She has made wonderful progress—going from no crate training at all to settling calmly in her crate. Luna knows her basic commands and would thrive with continued training to help her reach her full potential.

Luna has had limited exposure to cats, but we don’t anticipate any negative behaviors. She would absolutely love a canine companion and would benefit greatly from having a doggy friend to play and romp with.

✨ Luna is ready for a family to believe in her.
