Fleas carry tapeworms that can lead to malnutrition. They feed on blood so they can cause anemia in any animal. Flea bites can trigger allergic reactions on the skin just like bug bites make us itch.
Before I get back to posting silly stuff & dogs, I need to share what came in my Amazon order today! I've used more flea product this year than last, so I was down to less than an ounce of shampoo before this came in. I greatly understand how expensive GOOD flea treatment is, so I do everything in my power to tell you guys how to get them under control for as little money as possible. The products I use:
Petarmor shampoo contains permethrin, which kills live fleas within 5 minutes. It does NOT prevent eggs from hatching or reinfestation from the environment. You must apply preventative after this product is used & your dog is dry.
Veterinary Formula flea & tick spray: DO NOT APPLY THIS TO YOUR DOG! Even though it is labeled for use on dogs, I ordered this to treat my equipment, car, and fabrics after coming in contact with a dog with fleas. After it is dry, it is safe for contact with pets. You can use this on your own personal items, but please do not use it on your animals.
THESE ARE THE THINGS I USE TO HELP YOU THE DAY I VISIT! I will post links in the comments of my Facebook post to products I recommend for prevention. We are in an area where fleas never die. They live in the grass & on other wild animals, so if your dog does so much as p*e in the grass, fleas are always a possibility.
