A young woman who is barely an adult applied to adopt one of our puppies. She hasn't even moved out of her parents' house yet, but she does have a date planned for when that will happen. Recently, she adopted a puppy from a shelter but was unable to keep it.

I denied her application because we do not place puppies in single-pet homes. Additionally, she does not meet our age requirements to adopt a dog. Moreover, what has drastically changed in 4 months that now she can care for our puppy?

Her mother then called me, upset and aggressively insisting that I allow her daughter to adopt the puppy.

I am not convinced especially after her mother called. But I offered a pet rock named Rocky. But it only upset them more. 🤷🏽‍♀️

We have 0 monies. This week was busy. Multiple vet visits have us in the negative. 4 dogs had dental cleaning and neutering, another dog was dealing with an ear infection, and 2 cats were struggling with health issues requiring multiple vet visits.

We're in a bit of a unique situation with our sweet friend Zeus, and it's a little different from our usual process. Normally, we don’t place a dog directly with a foster family, but this time is special! Zeus has come to us with a foster who happens to be a friend of Cat from our foster home team. I'm really looking forward to meeting Zeus soon to kick off his medical care and set up a visit with our vet. I’ll be right there with him every step of the way, ensuring that his foster family has all the support they need. Plus, we’re excited that he'll be staying with us in mid-September!

People submitted to adopt a dog in our rescue. 🐶💕

They couldn't wait a week for their application to be processed so they rushed an adoption with another agency.

So in 10 days they applied to a different organisation, rushed in an adoption and returned the dog they had adopted.

Me: I'm sorry you rushed and impulsively adopted and returned a dog. I'm not interested in pursuing our process, which is stated clearly in our application and website, regarding the length of our process.

Patience is a learned skill that not enough people have. Adopting a pet is a process that requires time and patience.

I can't stop thinking of the dog they took on and returned.

People who adopt from a shelter be advised that a dog will need more time, more patience, more everything because shelters are overwhelmed and unable to dedicate the time, energy and funds needed to those in their care. They are stretched thin in every way. Not a fault either.

As we patiently wait for the pick-up call from the vet clinic, I'm going to photo bomb you with pictures of our weekend drive to Indy. This picture captures our joy and excitement, and I hope it brings a smile to your face as you take a moment to enjoy it with us!

Let's start with the crack head white Chihuahua, Remy. He's been searching for his happy forever since the fall of 2020. He is extremely smart and very active. He is good with everyone he meets. Stage 5 clingy with his humans. He is active, outgoing, and lives to be the center of attention. Comical really. He has no shame in showing off his goofy antics. And the sounds that come out of him, you'd think he's from the upside-down world.
