Another new introduction. One we have been working on for about five years and I've been very quiet about it until now.

Isabel Cuckoo Marans. As far as I know we are the only ones who have spent the time it takes to create this color. Most chicks will have feathered legs but a few may not. The patterning and leg color aren't reliably consistent yet. Still, they have correct overall Marans type and lay a reasonably dark brown egg.

I have some new introductions for you. The first is BSO Brahma (Blue Shouldered Orange). A color common in the UK and Australia but not in the US. I have been working on creating this color for several years, we're finally ready to sell them.

This color is subject to BBS genetics so Blue, Black, and Splash offspring can occur. I have also had an occasional throwback to Partridge or Blue Partridge, but those are pretty rare. Enjoy the pics!

Sorry for being so quiet for so long. I was extremely busy with my job which didn't leave much time for chickens. Since we are quarantined right now - I have more time.

Just sharing some pics of our Blue Buff Brahma pullets from this year. They will be next years breeders. I know they look "photo shopped" but I don't know how to use photo shop. I do have a very good camera and take picks in overcast cool light which does enhance the blue.

Head in the Clouds Farm / Wayward Winds Lavender Farm = the same farm. There are some shots of the lavender and the birds on Oregon Art Beat. An episode featuring the Oregon Lavender Paint Out, part of the Willamette Valley Lavender Festival and Plein Air Art Show!

Every summer, scores of painters descend on the lavender fields of Oregon, creating work, and getting a little aromatherapy as well!

I'm often asked what the the difference is between exhibition Brahma and hatchery stock. I had the opportunity to take this pic today of an exhibition line Dark hen, and a hatchery hen. See any difference?
