One of my best friends visited today with the main intention to help Pumba integrate with the big pigs. As anyone in rescue/sanctuary life knows, things don't always go to plan, but today was actually a blessing in disguise!

Not only is Kate one of my best friends, but she's also a genuinely badass human who runs her own sanctuary (if you don't follow them, please do!). She is such a mentor, positive influence, and so incredibly knowledgeable for all things piggies (and in general). Her heart and kindness is incomparable and I'm so honored to have her in my life.

So instead of Pumba joining the big kids today, we set up for a more successful integration to happen in a few weeks. We worked on the pastures, discussed best and worst case scenarios, and worked with Pumba directly on his rambunctious attitude which went so well!

Today was such a great day to spend with her, and the kid's always love her visits too!

Again, if you don't follow Kanda, please go check them out! They're having an Open Barn Day in October and have amazing residents with incredible stories. ♥️

Just a friendly reminder to always help someone in need, even the little guys! We all share this world ♥️

Found a little buddy stuck behind a hay bale today. I don't recommend trying to hold a phone while trying to dislodge a degrading pallet though 😆

Little bud seems okay and I gave him some food and water. I'm not sure how long he's been stuck but he was alert when and moving around when he got free!

There was no name from this kind donation from our wishlist, but we wanted to thank you so much!
When someone gets injured or we're handling issues that need extra precautions, these gloves help so much and we had recently been running low so these came at the perfect time 🧤

Afternoon activities with Dottie!

Dottie was rescued in February 2023 when she was found to be at risk for slaughter. Her previous caregiver, who loved her more than anything, sought out a safe place for her to land when others were trying to just dispose of her. We're so lucky she did because it brought us a beautiful friendship, and a beautiful dotted girl 🤎 We love you Dottie!

Some fun facts about Dottie:
🐽 She sits for pineapple (and other treats)
🐽 She LOVES people, but thinks she's only a 10lb little baby
🐽 Belly scratches turn her to puddy in your hands
🐽 She loves being part of conversations and will often move to the gate where she can contribute with little grunts and nose wiggles.

Our hose burst today, and it wasn't even one of our residents faults!
I was climbing over the fence, hose in hand, to drag it into Pumba's pasture to refill his trough and BAM. The hose burst, and I was soaked.
We've updated our Amazon wishlist with a new hose and a few other things we've been needing recently!

Today I had the absolute honor to be part of this little guys first sanctuary experience ✨️

He shared such a beautiful moment with our goatie girl Clover, and it really reminded me how special it is to be able to share this sanctuary with those who need it. From the heartbeats we rescue and now call Freedom Run home, to the heartbeats who need to feel that connection to those they're trying to live their lives for, and everyone in between. We appreciate our Freedom Run family so much and can't share our gratitude enough for helping us create such a wonderful place.

A one-take, distraction riddled, educational video for everyone's enjoyment 🐽🐑🌾

I've shared videos of Pumba like this before, but what I failed to mention is that this is actually a daily occurrence.

In the morning when I go out to feed everyone, he waits to see me in the pasture and races into the barn.
In the afternoon when I just go to check on everyone or do hooves or barn chores (no food or snacks involved), I call for him and he runs to me.
In the evening after I feed everyone, he sits at the gate and waits for me to give him extra lovings.
During night checks, I sing to him and talk to him and tell him everything is okay. That he's safe. That I'll love him forever and he's my little man.

And every moment in between those, he always runs to me.

Pumba was originally a foster last year when his original caregivers saved him as a baby but had a change in life circumstances and chose to find a safe place for him to land. After we moved, we all decided it would be best for him to stay with us permanently.

Pumba and I have developed a really close bond and he's my little man, and I'm his person. We get eachother. We love eachother. And there's nothing more magical than someone who has been through so much to choose you as their person, who they feel most safe with and can be vulnerable.

I love you my sweet little goofy boy! You destroy your squishmellows and leave your bedroom a mess, but that's what teenagers do! Don't ever change 🤎
