🌪️🐾 Hurricane season is here, and as a Bark Busters trainer, I want to help you keep your pets safe when the unexpected happens. Here are 5 key tips:
1. Have a Go-Bag Ready
Pack food, water, medications, leashes, and comfort items for your dog. Don’t forget vaccination records—they may be required at shelters.
2. Secure Identification
Make sure your pet’s collar tags and microchip info are up-to-date. If you get separated, this is your best chance at a safe reunion.
3. Create a Safe Space
Dogs feel our stress. Designate a quiet, secure area in your home where your dog can retreat if the storm becomes overwhelming.
4. Practice Evacuation Drills
Just like we teach commands, practice loading your dog into the car calmly and efficiently. Familiarity reduces stress during the real thing.
5. Stay Calm, Lead Strong
Your dog looks to you for reassurance. A calm, confident leader helps your pup feel secure, even when the weather outside is chaotic.
Stay safe, stay prepared, and remember—your dog depends on your leadership the most when things get rough. 💛
