Lucky Black Cats of Mew York

Lucky Black Cats of Mew York TNR. Rescue. Adoptions. Education. Lucky Black Cats of Mew York ♡ all cats... We don't discriminat Lucky Black Cats of Mew York. We don't discriminate.

The primary goal of Lucky Black Cats of Mew York is to foster and find homes for black cats who are statistically the least likely to be adopted and most likely to be euthanized. As part of this goal we will:
Provide TNR (trap, neuter, return} on free roaming cats as a community service. Provide temporary foster homes for friendly adoptable abandoned cats found while engaged in TNR. Educate public

in attempt to dispel myth that black cats are unlucky. Although focusing on black cats is our main goal, we help any cat in need.

Hugo is a 2 year old boy looking for his furever home.
Back during the snow in January, a couple in the East Village heard some meows coming from the boiler room in their apartment building. They went to check and found a friendly, but shy kitty. The couple then contacted us and we picked him up. Tracing the microchip, we found that he had been fixed in September and placed as a store cat in Chinatown, most likely as a mouser and left in the basement. How he ended up in the East Village, we don't know....perhaps in a delivery truck. But he was riddled with fleas and 2 pounds lighter than his paperwork showed, so we decided there was no way he was going back to the store.
A foster stepped up and named him Hugo.
Hugo has spent the last couple months learning how to be a house cat. And he's doing great. He just loves people. Cautious at first with new people, as soon as he realizes you're there to give him some attention he is all over it and you. And when he's really comfy, he will settle in your lap.
He is very playful and loves a variety of toys and celebrating his new life with the zoomies.
Quick movements will sometimes scare Hugo so we recommend a home with low activity. He seems curious about the ferals outside his foster home and we think that with a proper introduction that Hugo would enjoy the company of another cat. However, he would be totally ok as your one and only.
Negative for fiv/felv. Fully vetted and ready to go. Located Queens NY.

Misty is a gentle, all-black sweetheart with the most innocent soul. She has been thru a lot as it appears this girl was dumped when her owner moved. Calls to the registered owner went unanswered. But luckily the family that spotted her has given her a warm, loving foster home. She may take her time to warm up, preferring to observe quietly from her safe spot at first, but once she feels safe, she completely melts in your arms. She purrs nonstop, gives slow loving blinks, and looks at you with the softest, most trusting eyes. Calm, sweet, and quietly affectionate, Misty forms deep emotional bonds and will truly become the best girl you’ve ever had. Approximately 4 years old, Misty is spayed, vaccinated, and ready for her forever home.

Saskatchewan (M, "Sasquatch") and California (F) - Bonded Sibling Pair. Must be adopted together.

These eight-month-old siblings were trapped from a local Forest Hills colony this past September (on nights Chappell Roan was playing, hence their temporary names!). After two months in foster care being socialized, they've bonded closely while adapting to indoor life, and we're hoping to keep them together.

They've been fully integrated with their foster home's two adult female cats (ages 6 and 7) for over a month. They get along well - only occasionally annoying the older cats the way playful kittens do - and will play together and with the resident cats.

Sasquatch was friendly even while living outside and has continued to be incredibly human-oriented indoors. He's an absolute lovebug who adores pets and cuddles - you'll often find him in someone's lap or curled up nearby. With his notably long tail, we expect him to grow into a larger cat. He loves all toys, but especially seems to love wand toys.

California is more cautious than her brother but equally sweet once she feels safe. She loves being petted and is a total cuddler with one of her foster moms (still warming up to the other). She's shown more curiosity about the other household cats and is especially playful with small toys she can chase, like balls.

Medical & Behavioral Notes:
Both are spayed/neutered, FIV/FeLV negative, and fully vaccinated.

As former outdoor cats, both can be skittish in new situations and around new people (Sasquatch mainly when startled, California more generally), so they'll do best with patient adopters. However, they've come remarkably far in just two months. They have no behavioral issues and are only slightly more energetic than the older cats they live with - playful but not destructive. They sleep plenty and eat well, though they can be a bit picky about food (having been regularly fed rotisserie chicken while outside, they've developed some preferences!).

Help 4 year old Lion find a home!
Lion's owner contacted us looking for help rehoming him. Unfortunately some things have changed in the owners life and he doesn't have the means to care for him.

He says Lion is very gentle and is a purr machine. He is also happiest if you let him sleep with you at night.

He is neutered. Vaccinations and fiv/felv test will be updated before placement.

Today we got to witness a true miracle reunion thru social media.

Back in July, one of our trusted vet partners contacted us about a friendly stray cat they had taken in. After holding her for a week and not finding an owner, they reached out to us to place her in foster care for adoption. They named her Queso for the can of queso she was eating from.

Fast forward to this week — we happened across a missing pet post on a lost and found pets page, and to our absolute surprise, it was her. Her real name is Turbo. Her family had been searching for months. Turbo was their beloved office cat who lived in the back office of an auto collision/detailing shop. Her family was heartbroken over her disappearance but never gave up hope.

Today, we made the call. And just like that — Queso aka Turbo is back in the arms of her true family.

This is exactly why we do what we do. The universe knew all along that her journey wasn’t meant to end with an adoption application — it was meant to lead her home.

Never give up hope. You never know when your prayers will be answered.

Neine was recently surrended to our vet's office after her owner moved to a nursing home and couldn't take her with.
We recently had her bloodwork done and she is an extremely healthy 14 years old.
Neine is the absolute sweetest. She loves human affection and attention. If you have a bed and a lap you want to share, you could be the perfect match! She did live with another cat but they were not bonded so she might be ok with another chill cat. Otherwise she will happily be your one and only.
Fully vetted and ready for a new home...
