I was rescued from Brooklyn Animal Care Center by Red Hook Dog Rescue. I had been found abandoned and tied to a pole. This is my story.

Send all the good thoughts towards Blue. Dropped him off for an ultrasound to hopefully see whats going on with him. He’s still not feeling well. Not wanting to eat and always tired. The not knowing is the worst part. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Sweet little Blue has had a tough couple of weeks. First the stress of days of fireworks and now he’s sick. He’s been to the vet twice in a week, we are starting on some new meds…and a possible ultrasound if things don’t start looking up. Pls keep him in your thoughts 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Everybuddy!!! It’s time to celebrate! It’s Betty Sue’s seventh gotcha day!

It was Mother’s Day 7 years ago, when mom was volunteering at Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC). Her friend, and fellow volunteer, had told her about a three-legged dog that came in a few days ago (mom has always had a thing for tripaweds) but when mom approached Betty’s cage (her name was Sabra at the time-yes like the hummus 🙄) mom didn’t know this was the three legged dog her friend had told her about. As she coaxed Betty out of her kennel-Betty was super shy at first- she realized this was the dog she had been told about. And as Betty hopped down out of her kennel, she saw how tiny she was-and those ears!!! It didn’t take more than a few minutes in the yard for mom to fall for little Betty. (Maybe mom will post Betty’s video that she took at the shelter later!) Not much was known about her, just that she was brought in as a “stray.” Coincidentally, her friend from Red Hook Dog Rescue had already put a memo in to the shelter to potentially pull Betty for an adopter and when mom heard that she thought...it was meant to be.

Fate is funny, mom thought, as plans were arranged for mom to get Betty out of the shelter that night to bring home as a foster. Of course, knowing mom’s history of foster failing, it was probably pretty likely that Betty would be here to stay, but mom tried to pretend like she was keeping an open mind. Anyway, the potential adopter that the rescue had in mind, wasn’t quite ready to adopt another dog, so Betty was free to be ours. And well, the rest is history.

Happy 7 years baby girl! (Betty is approx 10 years old!) 💜💜🎉🎉💜💜 🎂🎂 Now who’s ready to party?!
