Lethal white syndrome, also called overo lethal white syndrome, lethal white overo, and overo lethal white foal syndrome, is an autosomal genetic disorder most prevalent in the American Paint Horse.
The condition is extremely painful and distressing and all affected foals die within a few days of birth. There is no treatment for the condition and foals suspected of having lethal white syndrome are usually humanely euthanized by a veterinarian.
Foal in picture was humanely euthanized at a day old.
I posted this because so many of you wanted to know what lethal white syndrome was.
Also the foal that was sick the other day was not a lethal white and was a cremelo and doing well at a rescue currently.
