With love in my heart,

I am announcing the future closure of Paws that Heal dog training. Our last day of operation will be May 11th 2025. It has been an honor to serve the greater Richmond area these past 5 years, and this is absolutely not the end of my journey in dog training. I plan to spend the next few years traveling with my own personal dogs across the US, and will continue to post personal updates,dog life tips and so much more on this account. I look forward to being able to share this new chapter with everyone. All current class bundles will be honored, and clients can look forward to zoom lessons, as well as an email list for periodic in person one off lesson availability. Clients are still currently able to purchase up to a 6 class package, as classes are still open until May 2025. 6 class bundle purchases will be cut off at the end of February, and individual pay as you go lessons will be available up until our last day on May 11th.

Current clients should receive an email or text with the same message within the next day or so. Thank you again for supporting Paws that Heal, and I look forward to serving you all in the future!

Luca is looking for a forever home!!

Luca is a German shepherd/ Australian shepherd mix puppy up for adoption through Australian Shepherds Furever a 501c3 non profit

Luca is an amazing, sweet hearted dog, but due to some genetic anxieties, he is looking for an understanding and experienced home. Luca struggles with stranger danger, and fear based reactivity. He often feels very overwhelmed when meeting new people. He will need time to adjust to his new family, and may not want to cuddle right away. Once he does warm up, he is a real couch potato and love bug. I have been working with Luca and his foster family to help him overcome some of these anxieties, and be prepared for this next step in his life. Its hard not to meet Luca and fall in love, he has piercing eyes that look right through you, and is so gentle once he learns he is safe. He’s an extremely trainable puppy, and just needs an owner with patience, and the willingness to learn.

For those who love him, we feel it’s not his time to go - and vets have even said he could live many more years. This is a nightmare scenario for any loving pet parent, if you were in our shoes, I know you’d do anything to save him. Off leash dogs are a huge point of anxiety for a lot of pet owners, especially those with reactive dogs.

It doesn’t matter how friendly your dog is, if the other dog is frightened or defensive. Keep your dog on leash if they don’t have a solid re call, and even if they do have a solid re call, follow the rules at leash only spaces! Your dog does not need to be off leash for every fun adventure.
If you are walking a dog off leash and they do have solid re call, its always polite to leash your dog while others pass, especially if they have their own dog. This lets the other people know your dog is under control and will ease any kind of anxiety the other humans may have had about crossing your path.

Proud is an understatement for Mills! They have been working through some heavy leash reactivity, but mills has one amazing mom. She has been able to pick up the skills needed to help mills as if she’s a professional! Mills definitely still has a long way to go, but shes a very different dog than the mills I met during consultation, and I can’t wait to see how much further her training will go!
