Do you know how much rejection it takes to be a breeder?
Breeding isn’t just pictures of cute puppies. It’s an ocean of unseen sacrifices.
Time:
There’s no such thing as “free time.” Weekends, trips, and vacations are rare. You can’t leave newborns, sleep soundly with a pregnant bitch, or ignore a puppy fighting for life. Breeding is 24/7.
Money:
Good dogs and responsible breeding are expensive: tests, food, meds, emergencies, and more—often costing thousands. Sometimes, there’s no income at all, just debt and heartbreak.
Emotions:
You learn deep patience and pain: losing puppies, battling complications, turning away unsuitable homes, and sometimes facing criticism and misunderstanding.
Roles:
Breeders are also nurses, mothers, geneticists, logisticians, photographers, cleaners, psychologists, and lifelong advisers.
Family and Friends:
Sacrifices strain relationships. “I can’t come, the puppies need me.” Not everyone understands.
But above all—love:
Love for animals and the breed gets you through sleepless nights, setbacks, and heartbreak. True breeders put animals before themselves, between joy and pain, and wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Respect responsible breeders. They give their all, often unseen. (Feel free to copy and repost as I did)
