Enzo is a 10 year old, intact female chihuahua mix who was rescued by Waggytail Rescue with a lemon-sized mammary gland mass and a chronic diaphragmatic hernia.
When she was rejected for surgery via the rescue programs at local specialty hospitals, Dr. Gagliardi referred Enzo to Anchor for mobile surgery at Cooper Square Veterinary Hospital as a Hail Mary attempt to help her.
Rather than perform a high risk, open chest surgery to fix the diaphragmatic hernia (a problem she may have always coped with), we focused on removing the mass so that Enzo would feel more comfortable and could enjoy a better quality of life.
Enzo’s mastectomy was an extremely quick & smooth procedure thanks to Dr. Kahn’s speedy surgical skills, an injectable anesthesia protocol, and the all-hands-on-deck efforts of the Cooper Square team. ✨⚓️💫
Enzo’s foster reports that she is doing fantastic at home and has been resting so much more comfortably without her mass getting in the way. 💞
