This weekend hubby and I spent some time at the Brooker Creek Preserve Environmental Education Center for a bat house making class!! For only $25 we got to learn about bats, how to make great houses for them, and actually assemble a house of our own to bring home and hang so we can have our own bat friends!! Thank you to everyone who put this event together, especially Ray for building all these houses from scratch, and then disassembling and wrapping nicely so we could build it ourselves😅. I’ll post an update of when I paint and hang this cool house. This is a great event and we will be checking out the other events in the future!

Today I got a horrifying call from my husband who was out of breath, that there was a giant white dog in the backyard with our free ranging rescue ducks. Everything in me was PRAYING it was a Great Pyrenees, and I don’t even pray like that lol. I know even they can kill and go after birds, even if they are trained well aside farm animals. This was literally the best case scenario, a friendly Great Pyrenees female (named Lucy🥹), who was trained to protect the neighbors chickens. She’s also an inside baby who will hop right up into the car and did great on the leash. I checked for a chip and brought her down the street two houses away. But it gets even crazier, because my husband had told me he thinks a duck flew away. This would be my Muscovy, the only one who can fly in my flock. He did in fact fly away. He flew away and was laying down in the neighbors house, two houses away, OF THE DOGS OWNER. How in the freaking world did that happen? I have no idea. Especially when my husband said he flew the opposite way of that neighbors house and still ended up there. But now I’m calling him my messenger pigeon lol. Thank you Jackalope Hollow for helping me out, and running out of the thrift store with me when I got the call😅🫠 Today was crazy🥲

For lunch we stopped at Docks Waterfront Restaurant and Lounge and I was impressed that they actually have a dog menu!! I got the babies the grilled chicken, and got myself blackened shrimp tacos. Everything was so good. We will definitely be back!

I’m really disgusted with the people who have been going out to the Weeki Wachee River lately. Most people have common sense and are respectful. But yesterday I went out with my family to go kayaking/paddleboarding. I usually pick up a few cans, I like to assume they just fell off people’s boards or they forgot them on the side. But when I tell you I found PILES of trash, cans, vapes, a glass bottle, a hat, a shoe?? Most of my followers are local. If you’re out on the water and leave your trash around like this, you should know better. You’re all adults. Adults, if your kids are doing that, tell them to straighten up. It’s gross and ruins it for everyone. You wanna be loud and have a good time? Cool, it’s a public place. But what it’s not is your public dumping ground. Pick up your s**t. What angers me most is the one pile I found that they DELIBERATELY HID!!! They knew it was a terrible thing to do.
If you’re out on the water, always take your trash. Please consider picking up other people’s trash, because no, not everyone can have common sense. But we can keep it clean if most of us pitch in.
