Why Do DVM Practice-Owners Sell Their Practices?
While occasionally a Practice owner will sell due to personal illness, incapacity or burn-out, the vast majority of owners sell so they can retire – not from practicing medicine, but from the rigors of owning & managing the business entity. Management of a business takes time over and above the practice of medicine. That’s the “time” that sellers seek to capture for personal relaxation and activities after retirement. A majority of retiring DVMs wish to continue practicing medicine after the sale of their clinics.
