Animal Rescue New Orleans (ARNO) ARNO has found permanent, loving homes for over 13,000 orphaned companion animals since March, 2006. ARNO runs a volunteer-based, no-kill shelter.

Animal Rescue New Orleans (ARNO) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit grassroots volunteer-based organization created and dedicated to the rescue and aid of abandoned and homeless animals in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana and Mississippi, including responding to the immediate needs of those animals in need of medical care, or who have been neglected, abused and deprived of love. ARNO promotes

the foster, adoption, and reunion of pets with caretakers, as well as spaying/neutering of all companion animals.

Foster needed. Addie is a 12 year old senior girl, 25 lbs who is very shy and anxious. She would do best in a very quiet home but warms up once in a home. Addie is housebroken and is easy and quiet in a home. Poor Addie was in a very difficult situation where her owner was no longer able to care for her due to his own health issues. His family lives in France so could not help him. She is good on a walk but was used to a quiet home with her and her owner for her entire life. Addie needs a quiet, patient home to give her time to decompress and get used to her new situation. Her owner loved her so much but was at a point where he could no longer take care of even her most basic needs. Knowing that she is going right in a home was such a relief to him. The NOLA Pet Memorial Second Line Parade is a unique way to celebrate the lives of our pets who have crossed the rainbow bridge. Grab your leash, dress up your pet in his best attire or bring a picture of a beloved, past pet and let's parade through the streets of New Orleans in their honor led by the This event is open to all pet lovers who want to pay tribute to their loyal companions. Don't miss this opportunity to share stories, memories, and love for our four-legged family members. Proceeds will support ARNO, a local no-kill shelter and rescue serving Orleans and Jefferson Parishes. The second line parade will take place on October 4, 2025 starting at the Treehouse 740 N Rampart staging at 1pm and starting promptly at 2pm and will end at Cosimo's Bar at 1201 Burgundy Street. Route to be announced. Rain or shine. No refunds. Three levels: Banner level $100 includes free t-shirt and walk right behind the band in the front of the Second Line(only 8 spots), Mid-Level $50 (only 30 spots) includes a free commemorative koozie and walk right behind the banner level's first 8 walkers and $25 general admission to walk behind the banner level and Midlevel walkers. (limit 75). (Note any dogs must be people and pet friendly to walk in the parade).

🐾The ability to work with cats and dogs
🐕Be able to walk strong dogs
🧹Complete routine chores such as mopping, dishes, and overall shelter care
🚗Have reliable transportation
🔞Be 18 or older
📅The ability to work weekend, evening, and holiday shifts, as needed
💙A passion for ANIMALS!

We certainly love our volunteers but guess who loves ‘em more? That’s right, our animals! 💙💛

Thanks to volunteers, our animals receive plenty of exercise, enrichment, and plenty of cuddles as they wait for homes. If you have some time to spare, we’d love your help!

Animal Rescue New Orleans (ARNO) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, grassroots, volunteer-based organization created and dedicated to the rescue and aid of abandoned and homeless animals in the New Orleans area that jumpstarted after Hurricane Katrina, including responding to the immediate needs of those animals in need of medical care, or who have been neglected, abused and deprived of love. ARNO promotes the foster, adoption, and reunion of pets with caretakers, as well as spaying/neutering of all companion animals. Our no-kill shelter is open 365 days a year with volunteer hours from 9a-9p daily and public hours from 2p-6p daily.
