Some of my students continue with classes for years to add enrichment for their dogs.

Think about how much we ask of our dogs every single day.

Don't bark when someone walks by.

Don't chase the squirrel.

Don't jump on guests.

Walk politely on a sidewalk.

Ignore loud trucks.

Be okay staying home alone.

Settle while we work.

For dogs, many of these expectations aren't natural. They're skills we ask them to learn so they can live successfully in our humanworld.

That's where enrichment comes in. It's not about keeping dogs busy or giving them a puzzle toy.

It's about giving dogs safe, appropriate ways to express their species typical behaviors while meeting ALLLLL of their needs.

When dogs have opportunities to sniff, forage, chew, dig, explore, play, run, etc., we're not just "entertaining" them. We're helping them build the skills they need to cope with our very human lifestyles.
