🌪️💙 Today marks 20 years since Hurricane Katrina forever changed our beloved New Orleans.

At Heaven’s Pets, we remember not just the human stories of resilience, but the countless pets who were separated from their families during those devastating days.

Katrina taught us that our furry family members aren’t just pets—they’re family, period. The images of people refusing to evacuate without their beloved companions, and the heartbreak of forced separations, changed how we prepare for disasters forever.

Today, we honor the animals we lost, celebrate the miraculous reunions that followed, and commit to never forgetting the lesson: in times of crisis, we don’t leave family behind.

New Orleans, we’ve rebuilt stronger, and that includes being better prepared to protect ALL our family members—two-legged and four-legged alike. 💙⚜️

This year, The Swinetinis, a Hogs for the Cause team, has graciously offered to smoke the pork for the pulled pork sliders and they will be on site to make the sliders. 🐷

The Riverbend Rotary has volunteered to help out and they will be serving the food for us under their big tent.

Urban South has generously offered the post race party beer and we’re working on more! We cannot tell you how excited and grateful we are for these donations! 🍻🍺

This unique race takes you through the stunning, historic grounds of Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery, hosted by Heaven’s Pets, where every step you take helps save animals in need.

🔵We’re calling on all animal lovers to join the cause and be part of the solution! While it’s not a requirement, we’d love for you to commit to raising at least $100. AND if you hit $250 or more, your registration is FREE! Whether you join us for the chip-timed race or choose the virtual option, your participation will directly support rescue efforts.
