We take your pet’s health seriously, and strive to prevent any cross contamination between pets and people.

🦠 Our staff is constantly washing our hands between patients - we definitely go through lots of soap and hand moisturizer!
🦠 Each room is thoroughly disinfected between each pet - the table and scales are sanitized, towels changed out, and floors swept and mopped if needed.
🦠 We do not allow any direct contact between boarding or hospitalized pets.

Telly - 1-2 year old female parakeet. She is very sweet, and learning to step up. Already eating a great diet of mixed pellets, fruits, and veggies. Fully vaccinated for Avian Polyoma Virus.

Melvin - 2-3 year old male ball python. Eats regularly (2 mice weekly, frozen thawed only), very calm and will just hang out with you for hours.

Viktor - 5-6 year old male leopard gecko. Friendly, will just chill on your shoulder (or in your hoodie 😜).

We are excited to introduce our new associate, Dr. Katherine Hebert! 🎉 She graduated from the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in May, and we are thrilled that she is dedicating her career to all things furry, feathery, or scaly! 🐇🦜🐢

Raised in Mandeville, Louisiana, Dr. Hebert has been passionate about veterinary care for a long time. Her love for exotic animals brought her to Avian & Exotic Animal Hospital of Louisiana as a client first, with the family bunnies, then followed into shadowing during high school and college breaks. During vet school she worked with us as a veterinary assistant, and then completed an externship block with us during her 4th year.

Dr. Hebert has earned her Certificate of Veterinary Acupuncture, and joins Dr. Pence in promoting Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine to our patients. She was also a Head Co-Chair for the LSU Wildlife Hospital Raptor Program.🦉 Dr. Hebert was awarded the Kaytee Avian and Special Species Excellence Award for most outstanding senior student, exemplifying her dedication towards exotic animal veterinary medicine.

Everyone, help us congratulate Rachel for passing her RVT test, and becoming our newest Registered Veterinary Technician! 🎉 Rachel has been part of our team since 2022, starting at the front desk as a receptionist, and eventually moving to a veterinary assistant position. Rachel graduated last month from Delgado, with her degree in Veterinary Technology, and took the licensing test today - and passed!

Rachel has been a great addition to our hospital team, and we look forward to many more years of her sweet personality and excellent patient care with us! 🐇🐢🦆
