The Conjuring 4: Last Rites opens with a chilling atmosphere, setting the tone for another terrifying case for Ed and Lorraine Warren. The trailer begins with an eerie shot of an old, isolated church, overgrown with weeds, as crows circle ominously above it. A mysterious voice whispers, "The last rites have been pronounced, but the evil remains." The camera slowly pans into the church, revealing broken pews, shattered stained-glass windows, and a large altar covered in dust.
The Warrens (played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) are shown looking visibly worried as they review documents and photos of a family stalked by a relentless entity. "This could be the most dangerous case we've ever encountered," Lorraine says, her voice thick with fear. The trailer shows a family huddled in a dark, candlelit living room, their faces pale with fear. Strange occurrences plague their home: doors closing on their own, crucifixes turning upside down, and whispers coming from the walls.
Suddenly, Lorraine gasps and clutches her chest, her eyes wide with horror. A quick flash shows her inside the church from the opening scene, walking down the center aisle, surrounded by shadowy figures. A priest's voice recites the rites of exorcism in the background, but there's a disturbing interruption. The voice distorts, and the camera shows a close-up of Lorraine's face, her eyes wide with terror as something invisible brushes past her.
The trailer intensifies, showing quick flashes of chaos: possessed family members writhing on the floor, the Warrens attempting to hold them down as they scream in agony, and a priest desperately trying to complete an exorcism. "It's not working," he says in panic, as dark, ghostly figures emerge from the shadows, clawing at the living. Ed screams, "Get out of the house!" but it's too late: evil has already entered their lives.
The tone changes as Lorraine, struggling with visions, is confronted with a terrifying revelation. She tells Ed, "This isn't just a ghost. It's a curse that's been growing for centuries." There's a shot of her holding a centuries-old relic linked to the origins of the malevolent entity. Suddenly, Lorraine has a vision of a horrific ritual: hooded figures performing a dark sacrament in the church. Blood drips from the altar, and Lorraine screams as she realizes the ritual is connected to the evil they are fighting.
The trailer builds to a crescendo of pure horror: windows shattering, invisible forces throwing people across rooms, Lorraine levitating off the floor, and finally, the menacing face of a demonic figure looming over Ed. The final shot is of Lorraine standing at the church altar, clutching a rosary and whispering, "This isn't over."
The title suddenly appears: The Conjuring 4: Last Rites. The screen fades to black, and a final whisper is heard: "The devil doesn't rest."
