🗓️ February is National Spay/Neuter Month!
📊 Each year 6 – 8 million cats and dogs enter the U.S. shelter system– fewer than half are lucky enough to find forever homes. To help raise awareness and decrease these staggering statistics, February has been designated National Spay/Neuter Awareness Month.
🐕 Not only does altering our pets (at an age appropriate age) play a significant role in “fixing” the problem of pet overpopulation, spaying and neutering (S&N) can also enrich (and possibly save) the lives of our pets.
🐈⬛ S&N can help reduce potentially risky behaviors, such as the urge to roam, which makes a pet more vulnerable to diseases and as we know all too well, more likely to be injured or killed by various outdoor dangers (vehicles, humans, etc.,).
⚠️ Some recent studies have also shown waiting until a pet is of a certain age to be beneficial to their overall brain development and growth; but S&N also contributes to extending our pet’s lives - dogs living an average of 1 to 3 years longer and cats 3 to 5 years more by reducing the risk of certain cancers, as reported by the American Veterinary Medical Association.
♥️ Please spay and neuter your pets and help educate and encourage other pet parents on S&N... Be a part of the solution.
