WE NEED YOUR HELP! Kitten season is in full swing, and these tiny mouths are keeping us busy! 🐱💛
We currently have dozens of kittens in our care, which means we’re going through wet kitten food faster than ever. While this little one is happily enjoying every bite, our shelves are starting to look a little bare.

Every can of food helps provide growing kittens with the nutrition they need while they wait for their forever homes.

Everyone meet Orielha! 🐾

Orielha recently spent a few weeks in a foster home and is now back on our adoption floor waiting for her forever family. At 2 years old and 22 pounds, she's the perfect size for someone looking for a smaller companion.

While in foster, her foster shared:

"Leah has exceeded all my expectations compared to any other foster dog I’ve had. She’s incredibly smart, bilingual, and knows all the essential commands. She responds well to training, has a playful side, and is a great sleeper—especially if she gets to snuggle up on your bed. She loves evening TV time, entertains herself, stays clean, and even enjoys baths in the sink! As a bonus, she loves to jog. We went on a 1.5-mile morning jog together, and she absolutely loved it."

This adorable Scottish Fold kitten is just 2 months old and weighs 2.2 pounds. Brienne is as sweet as can be and ready to find a loving forever home of her own. 💕

Our staff favorite recently went on a much-needed Rescue Recess adventure! 🐾

Rando is one of those dogs who gets overlooked, but he's truly a hidden gem. His new friends had nothing but wonderful things to say about him. He's house-trained, walks beautifully on a leash, loves to cuddle, and is perfectly content spending the day as a couch potato by your side.

Rando has been waiting far too long for someone to see just how special he is. Will you give him a chance? 💛

Have you heard about Rescue Recess at PBHSN?
It's a special program that gives our adult dogs a break from the shelter and some quality time outside the kennel. Not only is it great for the dogs, but it's also a fun and easy way to get involved with PBHSN, even if you're short on time.

18 dogs. One playgroup. A first for PBHSN. 🐾

This week, we welcomed Dogs Playing for Life to our shelter for hands-on training focused on canine enrichment, behavior and playgroup management.

Their mission is simple: Every Dog, Every Day.

By helping shelters implement safe, structured playgroups, Dogs Playing for Life gives dogs more opportunities to get out of their kennels, socialize, build confidence and simply be dogs.

What you’re seeing in this video is something we’ve never done before: an 18-dog playgroup.

For shelter dogs, moments like these are more than just play. They help reduce stress, provide valuable enrichment and allow dogs to show their true personalities outside of a kennel environment.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to learn new tools that help us improve the lives of the animals in our care.

Because every dog deserves more than a kennel. Every dog deserves the chance to play, connect, thrive and find a loving home. 💛

Our shelter is full, and with kitten season in full bloom, we urgently need fosters!

Many animals arrive scared, stressed, overwhelmed, or simply exhausted from shelter life. While our team works hard to care for them, nothing can replace the comfort of a home.

Kehlani was abandoned before she was even 6 months old. She was then recently adopted and returned soon after, through no fault of her own, because of hoa restrictions.

At an age where she should be learning what love, comfort and safety feel like, she instead found herself without a home. Twice.

But somehow, her spirit stayed soft.

She still runs up to people with excitement. Still greets everyone with a wagging tail. Still looks at people like they might become her family.

She has no idea she was let down. She’s still just a happy puppy hoping someone will choose her.

Kehlani deserves more than a kennel to grow up in. She deserves a home that will love her for the rest of her life and never make her wonder if she’ll be left behind again.
