Love myself some broken kits. All strong and healthy. Hoping the solar fan can keep them cool enough for the next while until they can regulate better. Agnes is doing an excellent job of covering and uncovering with fur depending on the temperature. Fingers crossed.

Agnes had 6 healthy babies who are all broken. I’m surprised as they each had a 50/50 shot of being broken or solid. Papa is Sips (of Aspen (RIP) and Archer). Looks like some are broken opals and some broken castor. Fingers crossed that they do okay in the heat after the cooldown we’ve had. Agnes is still having the most awkward looking unibrow molt that I find super endearing.

Agnes got her nest box today and knew her assignment. I bred her super late so am worried about the heat but also super excited to potentially have another litter of babies. So far all the rabbits have survived the heat without intervention so hopefully they have fair genetic resistance to heat. They are all in shade with plenty of water and as much air flow as I can give them. Good luck mama. We are rooting for you.

This week I plan on upgrading the duck pond to something more perminant (and less daily maintenance) with a DIY bog filter. We’ve got to get animals pretty plug and play for when Grandpa is taking over their care during our vacation in July.

Garden has been totally neglected this year while I’ve been focusing on getting animal systems in place. I’m hoping to get my act together for a late summer/ early fall planting of some fall/ winter produce.

Big 10 days around our little urban homestead. Happy Ducks are producing so many eggs we are having to get creative with preservation. Homemade noodles for the win.

Agnes pretended she was pregnant to get the extra “about to kindle” treats. We also got to transport a very lucky kit to become a beloved pet for my sister in Wyoming (and her children get to snuggle him too).

Sips (my kiddos favorite) got to have a date with Agnes (excuse the molt). Excited to potentially have some more brokens/ castors before we stop breeding for the summer. What an exciting, baby-filled season this has been! Always learning and growing.

Agnes/Archer kits living the popcorn life. Eyes opening but not getting into trouble… yet. Agnes is turning into such a good mama. She is also very anxious to have another date with Archer but we are going to hold out for a bit and maybe try and up-and-coming buck in a couple weeks.

Archer seems to be the world’s most confused lawn mower.

Sips (Aspen/ Archer) is starting to fill out well. 12 weeks and top of the list for keeper buck. Also, he’s been my kiddo’s favorite so he gets lots of extra snuggles.

These 2 week Flemish/ Rex kits are pretty cute and all 9 are thriving. Looking like they’ll all be blue or opal 😍

Agnes kindled 6 kits 4 days overdue. Worth the weight (pun intended) for these little popcorns.

Archer is expecting to be a daddy again anytime. This is his “I totally deserve a garden treat” face. He also somehow got ahold of a pack of pens on top of the cage and made sure to distribute them around and under his cage.

Agnes’ kits went to visit some of our special needs friends. They instinctively knew to settle calmly as our friend smiled and showed her excitement. Good Job Bink!
