Orion Ranch Sanctuary

Orion Ranch Sanctuary is home to retired, unwanted, and abandoned horses.

Our diverse herd, gathered from various backgrounds, now enjoys a life of peace and freedom. At our sanctuary, we provide love, care, and ample space for all our residents to live out their days in tranquility.

🎃🐴Boo Bash is quickly becoming one of our favorite traditions!

We welcomed Special Olympics of SE Kansas back for our 2nd annual Boo Bash, filled with costumes, dancing, games, lunch, laughter, and time with the herd. Even the horses got into the Halloween spirit!

Beyond the fun, days like this are about connection—with horses and with each other. Time with horses offers a chance to be present, and inherently boosts our mental and emotional health.

Thank you to Congressman Derek Schmidt for stopping by, KOAM News Now for covering the event, and Stephanie Stark of Lake Erie High School and her student volunteers for helping make the day so special.

We’re so grateful for this growing partnership with Special Olympics Kansas and all the special moments it continues to bring🧡

After years of advocacy, NYC has taken a historic step toward compassion. By 2028, horse-drawn carriages will officially no longer operate in the city, ending a painful, 160 year long chapter for carriage horses. Change takes time, but it’s coming. As members of the Coalition to Ban Horse-Drawn Carriages we’ve joined forces with rescues and sanctuaries nationwide opening our gates to offer sanctuary to the horses who will soon need safety.

As members of the Coalition to Ban Horse-Drawn Carriages, we’re deeply grateful to see this long awaited change finally moving forward. This victory means a safer, more humane future for horses and it’s been a long time coming🐴
