Today we highlight this cutie with loads of personality! "Lucy" came in for a quick visit with our technicians to get some treatments. Although she was a little scared, she did great!! We are always so proud of her! 🐾💜

There are things we do here to make her and other pets more comfortable. From a quiet facility, to treats, to a gentle and caring staff, "Lucy" was set for success! Some furry friends require other measures, such as pre-medications, pheromone diffusers, happy visits and other tools. Not to worry, less stress is best! If you are concerned about your pet and their upcoming visit, ask how we can help!

Yesterday we got to see this cutie, “Saphira”! She was here as a new patient to establish care and plan for her spay! She was a little nervous, but really loved her cheese mat and did great for her blood draw. She got a cute, little tiger-striped bandage where her blood was drawn on her front limb to keep pressure!

We require pre-anesthetic blood work and an ECG before surgeries to ensure your furry friend is safe to go under anesthesia and receive certain medications.

As many know, there is a mystery illness that has been seen in Oregon that exhibits symptoms like Kennel Cough, but can lead to Pneumonia. Typically these illnesses are spread through respiratory droplets, if you are concerned, limit exposure to dog parks, day cares, grooming, boarding due to the close contact at these facilities.

As of current, the AVMA and Oregon Veterinary Association recommend practicing precaution. If your dog is showing signs of cough, nasal or eye discharge, lethargy, fever, or inappetence, consult your veterinarian.

Can you believe we are already getting below freezing temperatures in October? This cold weather can pose serious threats to our pets - make sure you are taking the proper precautions of keeping your furry companion safe & warm!

Along with the recommendations in the infographic below, here are some other suggestions:
- Winter wellness: Cold weather can exacerbate some medical conditions, make sure your pet is up-to-date on their exam to ensure they are healthy to brave the cold.
- Know your pets limits: You may need to shorten your walks to protect everyone from weather-associated health risks. Pets with diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, etc. may have a more difficult time regulating their temperature. Check their paws after or during walks if any signs of lameness occur!
- Make sure your pet is properly identifiable with a collar or updated microchip: There are many lost pets during the winter months due to ice and snow masking the familiar scents of home.
- Prevent poisoning: Antifreeze is very toxic and deadly to our pets. Clean up messes and keep away from areas your pets may be.
