We specialize in diagnosing and treating diseases of the eye and associated structures. We use highly specialized equipment very similar to the equipment used to examine people, only more portable to allow for movement of the patient. The examination equipment typically includes slit lamp biomicroscopy, indirect ophthalmoscopy, tonometry, and various other modalities used for specific problems. Our operating room is equipped to handle the very specific needs of eye surgery.

Our patients come in all shapes and sizes. Marsha was referred by for further evaluation of a cloudy left eye that was noted upon her new mom getting her. Sharing some cool images obtained with Kowa Medical sl-19 plus slit lamp and an older fundic camera. Cool huh?

Spoiler alert: retinal detachments also come in all shapes and sizes

Come see us if you notice any cloudiness to your pet’s eyes…no matter the species!

Have you ever noted tiny white spots on your pet’s eye? Or have a squinty older dog with an ulcer that won’t heal?

This could be due to calcific corneal degeneration! The white spots on the surface this eye are mineral deposits. This can be associated with concurrent ocular and systemic disease (such as endocrine diseases, renal disease, etc.). These patients come in with chronic tearing and squinting due to erosions or ulcerations. They happen because these deposits will slough spontaneously.

To promote healing of the ulcer and encourage comfort, we can perform a debridement to remove/polish some of the deposits. This specific patient had some assistance with EDTA chelation to help bind deposits. As you can see in the last picture, there is a significant reduction in the deposits present following the procedure!

Cool pics brought to you by Kowa Medical SL-19 plus. If you couldn’t tell, we’re pretty obsessed with our new toy!

In the past few weeks, some of you have had the pleasure of getting a peak behind the curtain! We have a new very cool toy (Kowa’s SL-19 plus) that allows us to stream what we see during your pet’s exam! It makes it so much easier to quite literally show & tell. It also makes for some cool montages😉. What lesions stand out to you?

Our very own horse eye guru always ready to help! Glad to hear Lizzie is doing wellb

Lizzie arrived at LEARN last year severely under weight with blowing diarrhea which was caked on her re**um, v***a, legs, and tail. Her left eye was painfully squinted from an untreated cancer, squamous cell carcinoma, on the lid and on the cornea.

We worked tirelessly to bring her back to good health and curing her gi issues. Once that was accomplished we had Dr. Ethan Hefner, a local animal ophthalmologist, remove the cancer from Lizzies eye. The result has been astonishing and she is obviously thriving under our care.

We simply could not provide this level of rehabilitation without your prayers, love, volunteer hours, and funding!

Thank you for making National Help a Horse Day monumental in the lives of every soul we take in! Lizzie is one of hundreds you have given new and improved leases on life!🙏💕🐎🐴🙏

We understand the recent closure of a local veterinary ophthalmology practice has created unexpected challenges for many pets, pet owners, and referring veterinary teams throughout our community.

We are here to help ensure uninterrupted access to specialty ophthalmic care.

To support affected patients and referring practices, we are offering a reduced-price initial “Transfer Care Exam” for clients seeking continued veterinary ophthalmology services.

Our team is committed to providing timely appointments, compassionate care, and clear communication with both families and referring veterinarians.

*For clarification, all Animal Eye Care offices are still open and functioning at full capacity.
