A major perk of training dogs is getting to see combinations of mixed breeds I’ve never seen before. This Doberman / cattle dog is on its way to becoming a great dog 🐾

Changing dog’s mindset from “leader” to “follower” to combat reactivity.

➡️ Heeling is an essential tool for owners trying to alter their dogs’ reactive behavior. In tandom with other obedience and house rules, the dog looks to their owner for guidance during stressful interactions instead of defaulting to a reactive behavior.

Look, I love labs just as much as everyone out there. Just because they are a very common household dog does not mean they’re all built the same. People seem to be getting confused because they’re advertised as “highly trainable” but NOT for the basic obedience commands your family is probably looking for.

-Field labs are built to be reactive: react to prey.
-Field labs are bred to have insane amounts of muscle and stamina. A walk every day will not be enough. Your fenced in yard will not be enough.
-You can’t just play fetch with them. It’s not enough.
-You can’t just have your kids play rope with them.

Our family’s next dog will either be a Malinois or a field lab and I say that because I want people to understand just how serious their level of training has to be!

It’s a beautiful day for neutrality practice outside of a dog park.
Training on the other side of the fence allows you to control the environment while being around stimulated and usually uncontrollable dogs.
