We tackled the big “scary” tarp yesterday and Lyric was such a rock star. He was hesitant at first but after I walked over the tarp he realized it wasn’t that scary. Then he was able to do it all on his own.

Even switched it up on him by asking him to trot over it. The first time he got his front hooves on it and he just stopped. He stood there for a minute as he seemed unsure, but I asked him to continue going forward and he did (without a fight!)

Second time around he trotted over it like nothing!

Our first ride on Lyric💚

Thank you for my amazing friend, Leslie, for coming out and helping me (& helping me regain some confidence 💞)

Lyric was such a good boy! We did lots of walking but I did ask for a little trot, which he did beautifully. We had no silliness whatsoever. He is such a sweet guy and even displays that under saddle. Can’t wait for many more rides💚

Ever heard the saying “Horses will humble you?” And I’ve been humbled in the past…a lot actually 🤣 but never two days in a row!! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Yesterday Bailey decided that she was going to do something I WOULD HAVE NEVER thought she would do. She took off from me…and ran down the road which is considered a state hwy😮‍💨 no..no..she didn’t stay on the shoulder either. She had to be IN the road! Thankfully it wasn’t heavy traffic flowing by and we were able to catch her but lord that was an experience 🙄

Today..I decided that I was going to get on Lyric. He has been great with his ground work, and I can saddle him without him spooking. It’s been great! Thankfully I had my fiancé come outside to be there in case of something going wrong. Well something went wrong 🫠 i stood on the mounting block, made noises, leaned and put pressure on the saddle and stirrups..did all the things..while lyric just stood there calmly. I was quite impressed. Up until I put my foot in the stirrup and was about to get on, lyric said “NOPE!!” And started backing up. I don’t even know how but my boot got stuck!!!!🥲 with my boot stuck and my horse freaking out, I come flying off the mounting block and got dragged a few feet before my foot came loose 😅 im okay, but my right hip and back say otherwise 🫣 however we can’t end there!! I got up, gathered myself together and tried again. Lyric is incredibly sweet and was willing to try again. I didn’t fully get on him as I wanted to end on a good note. So just a few more minutes of putting pressure in the stirrups and we were done for the day.

One of the main reasons is he came up lame one day…which lasted a few days. He is doing better if you couldn’t tell by the pictures🤣

Today we tested the waters and put a saddle on!!

Lyric is pretty jumpy but it’s been a work in progress. I played around with the saddle pad for a while and let’s just say we had to run around with it to get used to it. I want him to figure it out and realize it’s not scary nor will it eat him 🤣

I also like to work both sides (L & R) as I don’t always tack up from one side. This is something I do with every horse when putting on a pad and even the saddle.

When it came time for the saddle he was very unsure of it being placed on his back. It took us a minute along with some help—shout out to my fiancé for holding him lol. However once the saddle was on he let me cinch up his girth with no issues.

I then let him “free” so he could figure it out. We started him on a lunge line but I also let him loose in the round pen. He immediately took off once I stepped away…I guess he was assuming he was racing again 😂

Surprisingly he didn’t through a single buck and still listened to his voice commands of “Easy”, “walk”, “trot” and “canter”. He is still learning WOAH but he will slow down when I say Easy so that’s a plus!

I am so excited to continue with this guy and hopefully we will be in the barrel pen🤞🏻!!

I have been waiting on making this post but I think I’ve waited long enough lol

Time to introduce Lyrical Squall (aka Lyric)!
He is a racetrack reject as he was “too slow” to make the cut, he never raced but I guess just wasn’t fast enough during training.

Lyric has definitely been making some progress and I can’t wait to see where we go! He is definitely spooky and we will be doing lots of desensitization😅

He’s slowly putting on weight, now we just need to work on building his muscles!

I want to give a huge Thank you to Triple Barrel Farm Equine Sports Therapy for coming out to do Magnawave sessions on the horses!

We learned a lot about each horse and areas that they were sore in.

Bailey had the most releases out of the three. About a 1 & 1/2 ago she had a shoulder injury, still has some tension but also got some big releases. She also had nice releases with her hips, stifles, & hocks.

Vegas is a nervous nelly and had some tension in her neck and shoulders. She started giving some nice releases as well.

Rowan was very tight in a lot of places..including her jaw. She finally started to feel some relief towards the end and hopefully she’ll start feeling a little bit better.

*When I say releases i mean yawning, stretching, deep exhales and signs of relaxation.

Took the girls to our local arena to practice the barrels! Bailey definitely missed being on the pattern, she was so exc...

Bailey definitely missed being on the pattern, she was so excited to run it again. She needs some tune up but i barely had to guide her!

Vegas did really well and i even decided to try her on the pattern. I am still undecided if i want her to be a barrel pony or not😅

Yesterday we tested the waters with Vegas and Bailey, they moved two groups of cattle!

They both listened very well and did so good! I was very impressed and happy with both of them. I can’t wait to do it again!💞
