Wish List Thursday! On the dog's list is.... Purina FortiFlora for their upset bellies, Quick Oats (any brand, any size), Paper Towels (any brand, any size) and Swiffer WetJet cleaning pads please. We can't begin to thank all our supporters! It's because of you, we get to help the dogs as much as we do! Donations can be dropped off at the shelter during business hours or Shipped to 80 North Walnut, Suite A, Mt. Gilead, OH 43338. Please come adopt your new best friend, we have over 40 dogs just waiting for a home!

4 new stray arrivals
2 male, 2 female
Border Collie mixes
We were told they were running loose on a property for nearly 2 months in Congress Township.
No Collars, No IDs, No Microchips
We have named them:
Moose Tracks
Rocky Road
Peaches
Cream
**the photo is TERRIBLE and we are aware of that. It was chaotic, to say the least, when they arrived....so we got what we we could.
Individual photos will be taken as soon as we can get them done.
No one, in 2 months, has contacted us about missing them so we don't anticipate anyone will be calling about claiming them......unfortunately.

Border Collie mixes

We were told they were running loose on a property for nearly 2 months in Congress Township.

No Collars, No IDs, No Microchips

We have named them:

Moose Tracks
Rocky Road
Peaches
Cream

Adopted from us in December 2024
Peanut, was found running loose in Marion County, last week, several miles from the property we have on file. We retrieved him from Marion County Dog Shelter.
He is chipped. Phone calls and emails to the adopter have gone un-returned.
He is a previous prison trained dog, so once we have an open spot he will go back there to continue/ refreshhis training.

Gomez…. A gentle heart the world forgot
He used to greet everyone at the front of his kennel—eyes shining, tail hopeful. He used to get up for visitors. He used to believe today might be the day.
Now he mostly sleeps. If you walk by, he won’t look up. Not because he doesn’t care—but because hoping hurts more than hiding.
He is sweet and kind. He is patient. He has watched so many others leave—wagging out the door to forever—while he stays behind, quieter and more invisible with each passing day, for over 600 days.
We see him, even if others don’t. We see the way his eyes still flicker when you say his name softly, the way he leans into your hand like it might hold the whole world. We feel the weight of his loneliness—the silence around his kennel, the stillness where excitement used to live.
Gomez, the gentle dog who once believed people meant love and doors meant freedom. There is nothing wrong with him. He hasn’t “done” anything. He just… hasn’t been chosen

Gomez - 5 Years young, knows commands, 80lbs of a cuddle bug, loves treats and takes them like a gentleman, good on a leash, loves rolling in the grass & ear scratches, adores people, selective with his doggie friends so he will need to meet all housemates to make sure they can be best friends, unknown how he is with cats & kids because he was a stray. Please share Gomez, he really wants a home of his own!

This orientation is part of our new program to help prepare volunteers before scheduling them for hands-on help. Mysterious Meadow! We’re still learning who this lovely girl is—what makes her wiggle, what brings out her biggest smile—but already, there’s so much to love. Livin' Large Leroy! We’re still piecing together who this gentle goof really is, but so far we’ve confirmed: – Excellent leaning skills – Strong interest in whatever we’re eating – May be part dog, part sofa cushion.
His personality is starting to peek through, one clumsy tail wag at a time. He’s sweet, gentle but occasionally dramatic, especially when lying down with a sigh bigger than him!
Watching him blossom is already our favorite part of the day. The rest of his story? That’s waiting to be written—with you! We will post updates as we get to know Loveable Leroy better.
