Nice testimonial from a client who participated in Sofia’s clinic in Idaho the past 2 days 👌
Take away from day two of the clinic with Sofia:
Respect is a two way street.
It’s good to respect your horse. It’s important to listen to your horse. But we also need to expect the same from them. Your horse needs to give the same level of respect and response that you’re giving.
If your horse doesn’t respect your cues enough to listen, your skill set can’t grow. And if you don’t listen closely enough to your horse, your relationship will never grow either. You can’t truly have one without the other.
Relationship without skills, knowledge and expectations is a disservice to the horse.
What an honor it was to learn from Sofia and her husband. They are kind, knowledgeable people, and seeing horses and training through their eyes filled my soul.
Here are a few quotes from Sofia Santos Bernardino that I’ll carry with me from this day forward:
“Do what’s best for your horse, not the eyes of others.”
“If we were to die tomorrow, would someone say, ‘This is a nice horse’? Did we ensure a safe future for our horse because we did them the service of training them to the best of their ability?”
