I really, really like this team, and I am so proud of them. Times have been pretty tough for them recently, but they are both fighters. One day at a time. Vanessa Durand and AWOL (Argos vom Haus Dyer X Celik’s Home Rose)
I have always said Requiem Sessions don't always have to be at "the end" but whenever we feel like life is fragile and we want to capture the bond that we share with our dogs.
AWOL recently was involved in a hit and run on the road by his farm. Thankfully he pulled through but not without some extensive damage to his front paw and back leg requiring FHO surgery. His rehab has been long and hard but they are still pushing through.
Vanessa wanted to get some photos done to show the bond they share. She was talking to me about how she was worried that she wasn't going to be able to do a traditional session because he isn't cuddly and affectionate but I was happy to have this opportunity to show a different type of bond some don't understand.
Working dogs are amazing animals. They are well loved but sometimes that is just their nature. AWOL loves to work. And he loves to work with Vanessa and I'm so happy to be able to capture this team
"AWOL... The sweetest of faces... fancy feet... wreck it Ralph....CHAD!
The day I met you, I was amazed at how confident you were. I was so excited to play around and start doing some training!
You caught on to everything SO quickly, learnt obedience commands in 3 languages, were brave as heck and handled anything with such ease and confidence. I loved every single minute of training with you. It was so much fun and we matched well. You taught me SO much and I will always remember that. I value you with everything I have.
Before the accident few months ago, you were excelling in personal protection training. Deep, calm, pushing and crushing grips. It was so much fun doing bitework with you, even when you would take a snooze on the bite.
We continued on with narcotics detection training after the surgery, which you excelled in. I'm hoping we have a couple pain-free years together. You're the best Malinois I've ever owned. I'm so proud to have you in my life.
