Golden Retriever
My name is Ruthie McCutchan, I live in a rural area of northeast MO. My husband and I farm along with two of my four boys. I have had dogs as long as I have had children, the oldest being 28 years old. It has always been a dream of mine to raise my own dogs and pass along the love and companionship that we love so much, with other families. Since my boys are now grown and starting their own futures, I have to fill my time with “more” children, I think it is an obsession of mine. My husband (who is very good at spoiling me) laughed and said, “we just got everyone out of the house and now you want to fill it back up”...well yes, yes I do. So I built a kennel with heat and air conditioning, which has 3 bays, along with a whelping/puppy room. I have researched and studied pedigrees and DNA, and I am determined to raise healthy and easily trainable dogs. I want to be open with my families and relay exactly what problems a Golden can have and assure you that I will do everything to breed the best without the downfalls that can come with this breed. We had to put our first Golden down at 8 years due to cancer and our second contracted a tick disease from a c**n bite. I don’t want families to have to go through the torment of treating or having to make the decision to put a family member down.
Right now I have three females and one male, my oldest female will be 1 year in May, she will be ready to breed this fall/winter. She is an adorable dark colored Golden, with a personality that we all want in a dog. She has to have loving before she will eat her food. She is also a very good retriever, haha, she minds well. Hopefully I will get in some more training this summer and get her a little field work and see how birdie she is. She has some hunting DNA in her, so we shall see how that relays. My second female will be 1 year in August, she also has hunting in her DNA, and will be worked this summer as well. She too is a sweet gal, with a mind of her own. She is very vibrant, dark coated with more of a wave to her fur. She is gorgeous! My youngest female is just 4 months old, so we have some time with her, but she is a good listener and is great at fetch and finding things already. My male is a beautiful dog, he is a great listener and can solve puzzles real well. He has titles in his pedigree and I hope to do some training with him to highlight his abilities. They all have great potential and their DNA reports are clear of any disease. As soon as they are able to be hip and eye tested I will have those as well.
