20 weeks to the day and we got our first pullet eggs from the Delaware broilers šŸ˜ I love that the excitement never dissipates, it was so exciting! Even more incredible is that in the days since we have been checking for fertility and are thrilled to report that YES they are fertile šŸ˜ We have been hopeful that these will be a sustainable meat bird flock , next step - test hatch! Stay tuned

Free Range?

Recently at Montgomery Farmer's Market we had a customer ask if our chickens are free rangeā€¦

They have all 3 of these coops, shelters, and shed to choose from, yet at tuck in timeā€¦ see for yourself the fiasco of trying to count heads

(And for the record ā€˜free-range is now defined by the USDA as having ā€˜accessā€™ to an outdoor area of undefined size for at least one hour per day - the term has been greenwashed so our gals are ROAMING šŸ˜)
