Meet Timon (aka Tim)! 🦁

Timon is an approximately 5-month-old German Shepherd/Lab mix and truly the cuddliest little soul you’ll ever meet. All this sweet boy wants is to be snuggled up close to his people. He’s incredibly soft, friendly, calm, and well-behaved, with a gentle nature that makes you fall in love instantly.

Timon is perfectly content to quietly play with his foster sibling’s toys, happy just to be nearby and included. He doesn’t need constant chaos—just love, patience, and a cozy spot to relax.

He’s had a rough start in life, but thanks to his foster sibling, Timon is learning how to play, be a puppy, and trust that the world isn’t such a scary place after all. Watching his confidence grow has been nothing short of beautiful.

Maggie is a 2 year old Border Collie. She is loving her outdoor walks—especially when they include a good roll in the grass 🌿💚 She’s healing beautifully from her FHO surgery and showing just how resilient she is. Now, she’s ready for the next chapter: finding a soft couch (and a loving heart) to land on.

At this time, Maggie would do best as the only dog in the home, as she’s showing some fearfulness around other dogs. With people, though, she is an absolute dream—extremely loving, affectionate, and happiest when she’s right by your side. She truly just wants to be with her person 🤍

✨ Meet Kitt! ✨

Kitt is a 6-month-old, 40-pound German Shepherd bursting with personality and impressive intelligence to match. She’s already mastering her basics and confidently knows commands like sit, shake, and lay down—and she’s eager to keep learning! Kitt also walks beautifully on a leash, making outings easy and enjoyable.

Kitt is exceptionally dog-friendly and gets along well with dogs of all ages, sizes, and personalities, making her a wonderful fit for a multi-dog home. She’s just as happy enjoying a good couch-rot session as she is following her people from room to room, always wanting to be close. 🛋️🐕

She does great in the car, is fully house-trained and crate-trained, and settles in nicely at home. Kitt absolutely adores women and kids, and while she may take a little time to warm up to men, she coexists very well and continues to build confidence every day.

Welcome Ashlee Burton, LBDR Board Member! 🐾💙

Ashlee Burton has called Pulaski home for the past 29 years, and helping animals is truly her purpose. She cares for animals 24/7—literally! Outside of her full-time job, Ashlee spends most of her time with her own rescue crew: Ko, her Australian Shepherd/Blue Heeler mix; Waylon, her Golden Retriever; Charlie, her Great Pyrenees; Mr. Mister, her Chihuahua; and a slew of rescue cats.

Ashlee also has a hobby farm that includes Nigerian and Pygmy goats, along with many different breeds of chickens. While her heart belongs to Pittie breeds, she has a special soft spot for the “misfits.” Through her work at Radford Animal Shelter, she often brings home the medically challenged or animals who may not get as many years as others, and she has become an avid bottle feeder for kittens. 🍼🐱

When she’s not tending to animals, Ashlee enjoys taking long motorcycle rides, shooting basketball, and spending quality time with her niece and nephew.

We are so excited to welcome Ashlee to the LBDR Board and are grateful for her compassion, experience, and dedication to helping animals in need. Welcome to the LBDR family, Ashlee! 🐶✨

🐾 Welcome Kayla Edwards, LBDR Secretary! 🐾

We are thrilled to welcome Kayla Edwards to the Little Big Dog Rescue leadership team as our new Secretary! 💙

Kayla’s heart for rescue runs deep. Alongside her boyfriend, she actively fosters through LBDR and supports our mission of providing safety, advocacy, and second chances to dogs in need. Their home is a true animal haven—shared with five dogs, two cats, and six chickens—and they’re working toward their dream of creating a hobby farm dedicated to animals of all kinds. 🐶🐱🐔

Rescue work is deeply personal to Kayla. Her soul dog, Diesel, was pulled from a euthanasia list and forever changed her heart and purpose. Though losing Diesel to cancer was devastating, his resilience and love continue to inspire her advocacy for dogs who are overlooked, vulnerable, or running out of time. Before his passing, Kayla also adopted Luna, and together their stories became the foundation of her lifelong dedication to rescue.

Both personally and professionally, Kayla and her partner are committed to serving their community and making a meaningful impact. Through her role with Little Big Dog Rescue, Kayla is proud to support an organization built on compassion, hope, and the belief that every dog deserves love, dignity, and a future.

Timon is a 4.5-month-old male GSD/Lab mix with the softest heart.

This handsome boy is a certified snuggle bug. While he’s more reserved than his sister Sarabi, he’s also less likely to panic. Timon prefers to take a moment to observe and think things through, while Sarabi dives right in headfirst.

Timon lives for pets, kisses, naps, and all things cozy. He thrives on gentle guidance and patience, and with consistent, kind training, he’ll happily learn what you’re asking of him. We wanted to share a gentle reminder that, as announced on December 1st, our adoption fee has increased to $350.

Rising medical costs, food expenses, and overall care requirements have made this necessary so we can continue providing quality care for every dog who comes through our rescue.

Our adoption fee helps cover:
🐶 Spay/neuter
🩺 Age-appropriate vaccinations
🧪 Heartworm testing & prevention
🐾 Flea & tick prevention
🍽️ Food and daily care while in foster
🏥 Any necessary medical treatment

Several of our fosters are tied up while dogs and puppies wait to be fully vetted because adopters are temporarily out of town — and in the meantime, the pleas keep coming. 📞📩

We receive requests EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
From shelters. From owners in crisis. From people begging for help. 😢

All breeds.
All ages.

Dogs and puppies — yes, PUPPIES — are being euthanized DAILY simply for lack of space. 🐶💔

Message from the President

Happy New Year! 🎉

Today marks one full year since I stepped into the role of President of Little Big Dog Rescue—into some very big shoes. While the direction of LBDR has evolved from its original roots, one thing has always remained the same and always will: we are here for the dogs.

I am incredibly proud of what LBDR has accomplished in just one year. Helping 136 dogs is more than I ever dreamed possible in my first year. None of this would have happened without our amazing foster homes, dedicated volunteers, and an incredibly supportive community. It is truly humbling to watch people come together with so much compassion and love to help dogs in need.

I want to sincerely thank each of you for your support. I knew LBDR had a strong foundation, but I never imagined it would become my second family—a group of people who truly understand my heart and my passion for animals and helping others. I am deeply grateful to Dot for trusting me with her most prized possession and for sharing her wisdom and guidance to help lead LBDR forward in a positive direction.

I also want to thank my husband, family, and friends for their unwavering support throughout this year of growth and transition. The late nights, early mornings, and calls or texts during dinners have taken me away from them more than usual—and I appreciate their patience and love more than words can express. ❤️

As we look ahead to 2026, I hope it will be a year of growth. While continuing our rescue efforts, I dream of expanding LBDR’s impact through programs like the Golden Years Furever Fund, a behavioral training fund for dogs who are often overlooked in shelters, and community programs that support spaying, neutering, and microchipping to help reduce shelter intake. I have big dreams for LBDR and our community, and I hope you’ll join me in making those dreams a reality.
