The Mitten Pet Sittin' is independently operated in Monroe, MI - Serving lower/mid MI & upper OH Hi! My name is Ashley and pet sitting is a huge passion of mine.

Growing up on a farm as an avid animal lover, I've had hands-on experience with a wide variety of animals for three decades - from your typical dogs and cats, to farm animals, reptiles, and exotics! Having love and compassion for animals has been a lifelong journey, and I personally have found it very therapeutic cultivating connections and bonds with our non-human friends. I have a firm hand for

handling large breed animals, but still have that gentle touch with the smallest of pets, including - but not limited to, rodents, reptiles, and even bugs! If your family friend has special needs, no problem! I have experience administering medications, from pills, special diets, and even injections. I'm also currently certified in grooming, specializing in nail trims (yes, even for cats!)

puppies, seniors, chickens - oh my!

the last year just may be the busiest I’ve ever been, what a blessing! An honor to spend time with your fur babies while you’re away… even if thy aren’t furry 😂

Had the pleasure of running a small farm over the winter, it had its challenges, but ultimately I had a blast! More eggs than I knew what to do with, so with permission, I was able to fuel the breakfasts and brunches of several local friends and bakers! It felt so great to give back in some way for the girls’ hard work over the cold months.

Fun fact - I grew up on 27 acres, so I’m no stranger to chickens, goats, rabbits, reptiles, horses, and more!

This is also a post to update that the rest of MARCH, JUNE, and most of JULY are currently filled.

end of MARCH and APRIL, I’m available for Monroe locals and those within 40 minutes for check in’s and nail trims ONLY.

some of JUNE and some of JULY are available for drop in’s, and nail trims. I will be in multiple locations during this time, so feel free to check in with me to see exact days!

Hello everyone - HAPPY 2026!!!
That almost sounds like a made up number, doesn’t it?!

Checking in with a quick post to mention January and February are completely booked, as well as June of this year. Booking in advance is always recommended, to assure all parties that your pet will be properly looked after, and cared for!

Here’s just a few cuties from the last couple of weeks. Please keep those babies warm as we reach freezing temps! ❄️

Friends, family, clients, and critters!
🚨IMPORTANT UPDATE!!!

First off, apologies for not updating ALL YEAR!
I started my year with pets, and honestly, it didn’t stop from there! I’ve added just a FEW of those smiling faces to this post.

That leads me to the important part of this post.

Going forward, I will have to limit the amount of time I can be outside of my own routines.
Which means MONROE, MI and those that are within 30 minutes of MONROE will be prioritized.
Those with disabilities (humans or pets) will also be prioritized.
I will be booking clients for a typical maximum of 5 days - beyond that, I will request an extra fee per day after those 5 days. I will do my best to work with you if you have a budget, or live nearby.

I am also requiring those over half an hour from Monroe to have a $25 travel deposit.

This decision does not come lightly, and I understand this may pose an inconvenience for some. The explanation for this shift - the last year, I had worked all major holidays, often being far from friends or family, and worked consistently, almost daily, with multiple clients, from early February, until early September where I had to decline many sitting requests.
I have attempted to bring assistance on board, which have helped here and there, but ultimately fell through. Having to pack up my life, and be away from routine, and humans for prolonged periods proved difficult. I also volunteer in my spare time, help my grandparent, and have a second job.

And those of you that don’t know, I have Cystic Fibrosis, CF related Diabetes, Gastroparesis, and have had a double lung transplant. Managing multiple chronic illnesses has been difficult, although I’m very proud to say I’ve been able to manage them WELL the majority of the time! I try not to complain, and i DO NOT REGRET TIME SPENT WITH YOU AND YOUR LOVED ONES NOT ONE SINGLE BIT!!! I would never take on jobs and clients I couldn’t handle. I’ve had an absolute blast this year, oh my goodness!!!

But, I do need a better routine for the betterment of my overall health that had slipped here and there this year due to being so busy and only one person.

I sincerely hope those that have supported my journey with this can understand and continue to grow with me.

Thank you SO SO SO MUCH for the support, welcoming into your home, and the trust with your loved ones. I genuinely love so many of your pets like my own!!! I hope to update more regularly when I have better mental capacity for social media 😅

Being up at 8am for run time *is not* my strong suit, but look at these faces… how could you not do everything they ask?! 😻

It has been BACK TO BACK sitting jobs since September and im just now getting a moment to reflect!

it brings me so much genuine happiness to be able to provide a safe space for not only your pets, but your peace of mind while you’re away. trusting someone in your home and around your loved ones can be a tough decision to make; thank you thank you THANK YOU for allowing me to be that person you can call on when you need a hand. i always try my best to be sure your home is exactly how you left it, your pets are happy and content on your arrival, and sometimes i even do lil household chores depending how long my stay is (i love caring for plants, cleaning common areas, and sometimes even doing soiled laundry)

Pet sitting has given me a wonderful start to my 2024, and i’m currently booked well into the year. Just a lil reminder; if you’re needing a pet sitter in the next few months, it doesn’t hurt to arrange your pet care early!

i can’t wait for all the future adventures to update you all on 🥰

We all made it another year, welcome to 2024!
I rang in the new year with a bunch of furry friends, here’s a few pictures from the last week alone!
They all got some fun toys and tasty treats for a late christmas gift.

I think a really big accomplishment I made in my life during the last year, was making the decision to become a pet caretaker full time. It started as a fun little side-gig to keep me busy, I had a few friends that would call me every couple of months for a small job and i was happy. That quickly evolved into enough word-of-mouth referrals, that i began taking it more seriously, and expanding my services since I had way more experience than I was showcasing at that time.

Moving forward to expand this venture has been a blast. I started this page last summer, and have barely done any promotion, yet the positive response for support has been overwhelming some days.

I hope to keep going with this for as long as I’m able, and continue on through 2024, being your go-to in-home pet sitter and pet care advisor.

I haven’t updated in a hot minute!
October had been blacked out so i could enjoy my birthday month, and was greeted with anticipation for my return. Since the end of October, i have been consistently double, triple, some days quadruple booked - between overnights, nail trims, drop ins, medication monitoring, and helping pets thru the hectic times of holiday seasons, it’s been a lot!

I’m more than happy to be this busy doing something i love, and giving you a peace of mind for when you need to leave your babies behind a while. I’m thankful for my experience with the medical field, which helps for administering yucky-no-fun meds in a swift and easy motion for minimal stress.

and as always, thank you for keeping me in mind when you need a hand with your loved ones, for trusting me with your companion and inside your homes. i don’t take these privileges for granted 🥰😻

Tonto is a deaf, blind, elderly pup that sometimes needs a bit of help getting around. There’s stairs to navigate, outside smells to explore, and joint meds to take. He enjoys sitting or standing very close so he knows where you are, and likes to follow you wherever you go for a little playtime.

Biscuit (orange) was a shy girl! She likes to hide, and has her favorite spots to get away from it all. I was informed she may not come out much at all, but after it was time for me to leave, she had already warmed up enough to show me how she got her name - by making biscuits on my lap!

Stella is a sweet gal that loves being included. She spent a lot of time on my lap, checking out the smells outside the window, and even plays fetch.

These three gave me a busy week recently, 10/10 would hang out with the sweetie pies again 🥰thank you for the trust in taking care of your babies!
