Tilly Project - Trouble ❤️

We met at Peaks of Otter for Trouble’s session, and before long it was obvious why Cassidy had described him as loyal, silly, and loving.

Trouble is 16 now, and while age has slowed him down some, he still seems determined to be part of whatever is happening around him. He spent the evening investigating smells, watching bugs, soaking up the fresh air, and generally making sure nothing important happened without his supervision.

One of my favorite moments came when he decided the grass deserved his full attention. What started as a quick roll turned into a full production, complete with feet in the air and not a care in the world. He got so committed to it that we had to keep an eye on him a couple times to make sure he didn’t accidentally roll himself right into Abbott Lake.

Honestly, that felt like the perfect summary of who he is.

Cassidy had told me beforehand that Trouble has always been her shadow, and that was impossible to miss. No matter where we went, he always seemed aware of where she was. Whether he was leaning into affection, relaxing nearby, or checking in on what she was doing, there was never much doubt about who his person was.

The thing that stood out most wasn’t his age. It was how much of himself was still there. The curiosity. The stubbornness. The goofy personality that had him studying bugs one minute and nearly rolling into a lake the next.

When Cassidy reached out about a Tilly session, she told me she wanted to remember who Trouble is and what it feels like to be loved by him. After spending an evening with them, I think those two things are impossible to separate.

Trouble is loved deeply, and it’s easy to see why.

Thank you, Cassidy, for trusting me with these memories.

❤️

This session was part of The Tilly Project. I choose to offer these sessions at no cost because these moments deserve to be remembered. If your family is approaching this chapter and would like memories preserved, please reach out!

Today is National Rescue Dog day!! 🐾🐕

Plans fell through so my day is now wide open!

I’m gonna offer rescue dog photo sessions around the Amherst/Lynchburg area for $75. $25 from each session will go back to a local shelter to help more shelter pups find their forever homes!

Doesn’t matter if they’re brand new to you or they’ve been glued to your side for 12 years. Big dogs, little dogs, old gray faces, absolute crackheads…all welcome 🤣

Just wanted to do something centered around rescue pups for the day. Shoot me a message if you’d like to set something up!

PUPPY WARNING.

Friends of Campbell County Animal Control made the mistake of letting me near the puppy room yesterday, and now y’all have to deal with the consequences. 😂

These little chaos potatoes are all currently available for adoption and looking for homes. Huge thanks again to the staff, and especially Mirri’s Moments, for letting me come out and work with them to help bring some attention to these pups.

Fair warning: looking at these photos may result in suddenly checking your living room for “just enough space for one more dog.”

Adopt, don’t shop.

And like Bob Barker always said: “Help control the pet population. Have your pets spayed or neutered.”

Tilly Project

Bubby Hoover Mosley (Bub, B***y, Boopie, Toot, Mr. Toot, Mr. Hoover, Shuga) ❤️

Some sessions come together fast. Some need to happen right now.

This morning, Karen reached out while facing one of the hardest choices a pet owner can make. Bubby, her senior Chihuahua, is in the late stages of CHF, and she wanted a few good photos together before a crisis made the decision for her.

By this evening, we were together.

Bubby is around 14 or 15 years old, with warm eyes, one floppy ear, and a quiet little presence. Sweet boy. Stoic. Gentle. He loves a dog cookie, a warm patch of sun, and keeping tabs on Karen around the house.

Karen first fostered Bubby in 2019. Later, her friend Bill gave him a home and loved him for several years. When Bill’s health declined, he asked Karen to take Bubby back. She has cared for him ever since. Bill has since passed, but he remains part of Bubby’s story.

What stood out most tonight was the comfort between them. The way her hands knew exactly how to hold him. The way he relaxed into her touch. The kind of bond only time can build.

We also made space for Bill in spirit. ❤️

This session was part of The Tilly Project. I personally choose to offer these sessions at no cost because these moments matter. If you are nearing this chapter and want memories preserved, please reach out.
