🐾 Puppies Jumping on People!- let’s get into it!!

Puppies often jump on people as a way of greeting or seeking attention — especially when they’re excited. While it may seem harmless, it’s important to discourage jumping early and teach an alternative greeting behavior.

✅ What to Do:
• Teach your puppy to sit calmly or offer a paw as a polite greeting.
• When your puppy jumps, turn away and ignore them until all four feet are on the ground.
• Immediately praise and reward calm behavior (such as sitting) to reinforce the desired greeting.
• Be consistent — make sure all family members and visitors respond to jumping the same way.

🚫 What Not to Do:
• Avoid pushing, yelling, or scolding. This can increase excitement and unintentionally reinforce the behavior.

With patience and consistency, your puppy will learn that calm behavior — not jumping — is the way to earn attention! 🐶

BARKING 🐾

Excessive barking in puppies can stem from several reasons, including boredom, seeking attention, or feeling anxious or threatened. Start by identifying the triggers that lead to barking, such as doorbells, people or animals passing by, or being left alone.

Once you understand the triggers, work on desensitizing your puppy through gradual exposure and positive reinforcement. Teach commands like “quiet,” and reward moments of silence with treats or praise.

Provide plenty of mental stimulation with interactive toys, puzzle feeders, and obedience training sessions to keep your puppy engaged and reduce boredom-related barking.

Consistency in your response to barking behavior is key—this will help your puppy clearly understand what is expected of them.

🟡🟡House Training Your Puppy 🟡🟡

Accidents are common in puppies due to their developing bladder control and the learning process involved in understanding where it’s appropriate to go potty.

Crate training is a highly effective method for house training. Use a crate that is just large enough for your puppy to stand up, turn around, and lie down comfortably—but not so large that they can eliminate in one corner and sleep in another.

Establish a consistent bathroom schedule by taking your puppy outside to their designated potty area after waking up, after meals, and before bedtime. Use verbal cues like “go potty” to help your puppy associate the act with a command. When your puppy eliminates outside, immediately reward them with treats and praise to reinforce the desired behavior.

If accidents occur indoors, clean the area thoroughly with an enzymatic cleaner to remove the scent and reduce the likelihood of repeat accidents in the same spot.
