My name is Buttercup and I'm available for adoption through Animal Rescue Foundation in Mobile, AL. I've had a pretty interesting life so far; some good and some not so good...but when I think back to the night ARF saved my life, it makes most of the bad stuff go away. Do ya'll remember when Mobile was hit with the ice storms back in January? Anyway, the gang at ARF were so worried about all the d
ogs like me who lived outside that they started a huge campaign to help us out. They delivered blankets and kennels to people who would agree to bring their dogs in during the cold weather and they helped as many dogs as they could. It was amazing from what I hear and I think ARF was responsible for getting around 150 dogs in out of the cold during that time. But back to my story... a volunteer was delivering crates when he was contacted by a lady about me. Back then, I lived on a chain in my backyard. I wasn't fed very much so I was really skinny and I didn't even have a dog house. I also had a terrible skin condition, so I had almost no hair. All those things added up to one BIG thing - I would not have survived the night outside in the cold. I remember how weak I was that night and while we were all waiting for the nice man to arrive, the other people were throwing bread over to me. I kept falling down trying to get to it because I was so very weak. I think I was too much trouble with my skin condition and maybe my owners didn't know how to take care of me; but whatever the reason, that was my life back then. Anyway, the nice man finally showed up and I saw him talking to the other people who had called him about me. He called some other people with ARF and I'm not sure exactly what happened; but this is what I do know - the nice man and ARF literally saved my life that night. Riding back to the ARFanage in the man's truck was like a dream. It was so warm and he was so nice. When I got to the ARFanage, they put me in my very own room and gave me FOOD and BLANKETS and TOYS! All I could think was if this is a dream, please don't wake me up! Lots of things have happened since then. The people at ARF fixed my skin condition and now I have all my hair back. I'm also no longer skinny. Life is definitely looking up for me but what I really want more than anything is a family to call my very own. I LOVE people, kids, babies and other dogs. I don't have a mean bone in my body but because some people look at my breed as distrustful, it's lowered my chances for adoption. So that's where you come in! I have my own page now because I want people to read my story and get to know me. I'll be posting lots of updates and more stuff about me, so please ask all your friends to 'like' my page. Hopefully, my forever family will see it soon and come adopt me. Love, Buttercup
