Cats of the Homeward Bound Project

We are a 501c3, non-profit organization that was founded in 2007. Homeward Bound rescues and vets cats and kittens in the Starkville, MS area.

We are entirely foster based and operated by volunteer veterinary students (with administrative supervision and some amazing volunteer medical caregivers). You can see our feline friends available for adoption at the Petco in Meridian, MS. If you need help finding a new furry friend or are interested in any of our babies, don't hesitate to contact us! If you enjoy following our efforts, be sure to share with your friends and help us find "furever" homes for our kitties!

My name is Eowyn and I am the sweetest tortie girl! 🧡🖤 My brother and I were found on the side of the road. I was found with an injury to my lower lip so I sometimes look like I am sticking out my tongue. I am looking for a calm house where I can follow my human around and take lots of naps on soft blankets. I love to play with toys and chin scratches. 🍨 Benny is the fluffy goofball and loves being the center of attention! He can have a blast playing all by himself.
🍨 Bluebell & Bunny are the dynamic duo who love to play together but still make time to demand some snuggles!

Meet Kyle!! 🧡 Kyle is the ultimate combination of sweet, sassy, and social. He's a charming heartthrob who adores having friends and gets along great with both cats and dogs! He flourishes in a home with buddies to play and snuggle with.

From his foster: With some patience and attention, Kyle has really blossomed into a confident and quirky cat. He’s so playful and loves his string toys and mouses. After playtime, he’ll snuggle right on the couch with you for hours while you watch tv, especially Netflix. I think he recognizes the sound and knows it’s time to jump on the couch with me. He’s even comfortable riding in his carrier for an hour long drive!

Tuna is a playful, energetic, and loving girl with a heart of gold who’s ready to find her forever home! Being a three legged girl does not slow her down! She loves to play with any and all toys- especially balls she can chase. After playtime, Tuna wants nothing more than to cuddle up with you and make lots of biscuits. Tuna can be a little shy at first, but with a little love and patience her personality really shines.

If you’re looking for an energetic playmate, Walter is the kitten for you! When he’s not busy chasing feathers or laser pointers, he’s a professional biscuit maker and the sweetest snuggly boy. Walter’s other favorite activities include watching birds and cars pass by from the comfort of a windowsill. He would prefer to go to a home with another kitty, but as long as he’s getting attention, he’s happy! 🥰

Meet Louis! This handsome guy is equally energetic as he is loving. Louis lives for playtime - he loves to play with and run after toys - but once he's worn out, he loves to be in your lap. Expect many head bumps, face rubs, and a whole lot of purring!

Louis has done well meeting other cats and even a small dog, so with proper introductions, he'd likely fit right into a home with other furry friends. He'd also even thrive with an active family, especially one with kids to match his playful energy.

Meet Nora! 🐾🖤 Nora is the sweetest girl who just wants to be loved! She is very shy at first but once she warms up, she is the snuggliest biscuit making machine. Nora is perfectly content being a lap cat or just spending time with you. She is very tolerant of the other cat and dog she is currently housed with in her foster home. Meet Burberry, a sweet and serene kitty who loves quiet spaces to curl up and enjoy a peaceful nap. She’s a total purr machine, always ready to relax but with a playful side when it comes to food and treats—she definitely knows what she wants! Burberry gets along well with other cats and is slowly warming up to dogs, and is never fearful of standing her ground. 🐾 Meet Ginny & Hermione! 🐾

These two sweet sisters are looking for their forever homes! They can be adopted together, but they’re also happy to find separate families.

🐱 Ginny – This girl has no problem letting you know when she wants attention. She is very outgoing, talkative, and loves being the center of attention!

🐱 Hermione – A little reserved at first, but once she warms up, she’s just as talkative as her sister. She loves being held and will happily curl up in your arms for cuddles.

🐾 Meet Maria - The Biscuit-Making Queen!🐾

Maria was once a free-roaming girl hanging out at an apartment complex, but has now embraced the life of a house cat and is ready for her forever home!! 🏠🩷

This sweet girl loves a good cuddle session, especially while watching TV. She loves chin scratches and will immediately start making biscuits and drooling the second you start petting her. She is essentially a professional baker due to the amount of biscuits she makes! She can be a little shy at first, but she warms up very quickly and will be your best friend. Once she warms up, she will follow you everywhere and not leave your side. When she's by herself, she likes to sit in confined spaces and loves a good hidey-hole. She is an easy-going, calm girl who just wants someone to snuggle and get lots of pets from! 🐱🤎
