El pueblo venezolano es un activo inmenso para este planeta, mucho más que cualquier petróleo o tesoro que se pueda imaginar. Siempre valoraré el tiempo que pasé aprendiendo de ustedes, tanto durante mi estancia allí como ahora que seguimos siendo familia y amigos, tantos años después... ¡y su programa de béisbol tampoco está nada mal! Ja, ja.

Ultramarathon reflection, Ice Age 50: Sometimes it’s not about doing something the fastest you can, but enjoying the nature within you (the ancestors vision) and beyond you (the trees, the soil, the birds). Not much puts you in closer harmony with your own nature and that of the natural world than long hikes and running further than you ever imagined.

In some ways it’s harder and more painful that this one was so slow 😆

This ultra was a comeback years in the making so it was beautiful to realize I can still do it and am still improving since gaining so much pandemic weight. It was emotional to remember all my ultramarathons and the changes in self and overcoming adversity the training symbolized in life itself.
