As a young child I recall watching my Nana knit. Many a beautiful cardigan was gifted to the grandchildren. After losing her sight she continued to knit lovely pieces with the help of my grandad reading the pattern to her.

As I grew up, my mum gave me lessons and encouraged me to knit. As most adolescents, I lost interest in this ancient craft and turned my attention to boys 😝

Then one day, after I had started my life in the America, a coworker was knitting during her lunch break and sparked my interest once again. I started knitting squares to refine my skills and slowly branched off to many intricate patterns, even receiving orders. Over the years, between projects, I continued knitting squares.

Well, after many, many years I finally put those squares together to make a blanket. Looking at this completed project, so imperfect in so many places, I am flooded with those childhood memories and filled with pride that I have the privilege to carry on this simple family tradition.

I won’t win any prizes for this, but I am certainly most proud of this one 🩷
