Littermates PiRAT and Poa are always snuggled up together on their bamboo bridge. This why we always require rats to be kept in at least pairs, they bond so closely with their rat family and need that same species social dynamic. Despite these two being probably my closest bonded pair, they still love human interaction and are two of my favorites so have no worries that rats kept with other rats won't also bond to their humans! If anything having rat companions prevents them from getting depressed/stressed and happy rats will bond even closer to their human friends!

PS these two are both intact males living in a cage right in between two groups of females. Selecting rats that don't have hormonal agression for a breeding program eliminates issues like fighting between intact males in the presence of females.

Pretty Marten girl! Love the marbling seen at this age with martens! Hopefully she will make the cut as a breeding prospect and be our keeper girl from this litter!

**Update: All 3 have been adopted to a wonderful home! ***

I have 3 does looking for a new home at no fault of their own! They are 5 months old (born 4-21-25) from our One x Kala litter. This cross has been my favorite as far as the outstanding temperaments it produced in the litter! These 3 sisters are bonded and must stay together.

1st is a Dumbo Agouti Silvermane standard coat. This was actually my pick of the litter but due to her being identical to her mom I decided to place her instead of keeping. She is outgoing and friendly. Comes right up to you for attention. Seems to be fairly laid back for a young female.

2nd is a Dumbo Agouti Silvermane Rex. She seems to be easy to handle and curiously comes up to you when you approach her cage. She has the cutest curly whiskers and coat!

3rd is a Dumbo Agouti Standard coat. She has the shiniest pretty coat! She is a little more timid than the other two but is still easy to handle and curious. She will likely take a little bit longer to adjust to her new people but I don't expect her to have any serious temperament issues. She happily sits on my shoulder already.

They can come with either a Deluxe Critter Nation (two story unit) that is a bit older and does not break down (it was repainted so is stuck together as one unit now)

Or they can come with a new Single Critter Nation.

They also have several toys, a sputnik hide, hammock, litter pan, 2 lava ledges, water bottles, feed dish, and scatter guards to go along with them.

This is the ultimate rat starter package deal!

Momma Aulii gets weighed along with her babies too so we can be sure she maintains weight while nursing all her babies and make adjustments to her feed if needed.

Here is a video of our evening routine with the babies between days 3 and 16! This age involves a rapid growth of neurological development so we do these Early Neurological Stimulation exercises that studies show give many lifelong benefits including:

Improved Cardiovascular Performance
Stronger Hearbeats
Stronger Adrenal Glands
Improved Tolerance to Stress
Greater Resistance to Disease

I start by removing the babies from their nest and giving their mom a special high protein treat. I then do a quick assessment of each pup to make sure they don't have any injuries or any signs of poor health and to identify which baby I have out.

Then I began the exercises that include tactile stimulation but tickling a foot with a q tip, holding them in an upright position, holding them in a head down position, and holding them in a supine position. Then I place them on a cool cloth for thermal stimulation. Each exercise only lasts a few seconds and is just introducing them to short periods of stress.

I then get a quick weight on them before placing them back with their littermates.
