It took me over a month to post this very sad post! My Shepard dog & two of my other dogs got into a fight! The Shepard showed aggression and the other two dogs responded by attacking him! Once I had separated the fight, I noticed that the Shepherd had bit wounds, so I brought him to Aqueduct Animal Hospital, 896 Riverview Rd. Rexford, NY 12148. After evaluating my dog after shaving the area where the bites were, the Veterinarian, Dr. Rocco, came out and gave me an estimate which was $1800 - $2300! I told her I could not afford that and then she said for $500 the clinic can shave to see where the bites are and patch him up! My dog was dripping blood, and I pleaded with the Veterinarian can you please stop bleeding by suturing him and give him IV fluids! The veterinarian said she would have to charge me more money! The hospital applied bandages to my dogs in under an hour; however, some of the bandages became dislodged during our journey home. I have been rescuing dogs for about fifty years and never in my life did I meet a veterinarian who was expressionless and showed so much apathy! The next morning, I took my dog to my regular veterinarian, but he died along the way! The Aqueduct Animal Hospital is very high-end, and the hospital is extremely large! The only reason I can consider for the veterinarian to be so heartless and adamant about the price of veterinary care was that the owner of the Animal Hospital overextended himself and is not making enough money to cover the overall expenses! However, this is not an excuse to not want to try to save the dog’s life! Whatever happened to their hypocritic oath, money!
