Cooler weather means longer, more comfortable outdoor adventures!

But senior pets or those with joint issues may need modifications. Consider shorter, more frequent walks on softer surfaces like grass instead of concrete, and warming up before vigorous play.

October is Pet Cancer Awareness Month, and early detection is critical to potentially yield more positive outcomes.

Watch for lumps, bumps, changes in eating habits, lethargy, or persistent coughing. Many cancers are treatable when caught early, so don't wait to have concerning changes examined.

Regular wellness exams can help us catch problems before you notice symptoms. Schedule a check-up if anything seems different!

After 10/3, records will remain accessible via email – [email protected] – where team members will be able to assist you remotely and email records upon request.

If you have a standing prescription that requires refill, you can do so through your current pharmacy provider. Unfortunately, we cannot issue new prescriptions, and our pharmacy can only issue prescriptions that are already on file with our pharmacy. Should your pet need a new prescription written, you must make an appointment with another hospital. Our team is available by phone, during business hours, to transfer your records as needed.

We are deeply grateful for the trust you have placed in us to care for your pets and your families over the years. It has been an honor to be a part of your community.

With gratitude,
The Granville Animal Hospital Team

September taught us about transitions, resilience, and the importance of routine. Our pets showed us how to adapt to change while maintaining the relationships that matter most. As we head into October, let's carry forward the lessons our pets teach us daily: patience during adjustment, joy in simple moments, and unconditional love through every season. What did your pet teach you this month?

As activity levels change with cooler weather, joint health becomes especially important for our pets. If you notice any changes in your pet's mobility or activity levels, it's worth discussing with your veterinarian. They can help you create a personalized plan to support your pet's joint health and comfort. Early conversations with your vet about mobility can help maintain quality of life as pets age. Schedule a mobility assessment if you have concerns!

Today we pause to remember the shelter pets still waiting for homes and honor those who never got a second chance. Every pet deserves love, care, and a family to call their own. While we remember those we've lost, we also celebrate the incredible rescue organizations and volunteers working to save lives every day. ❤️

It's Hug Your Hound Day!

While not every dog loves tight squeezes, most appreciate gentle affection, ear scratches, and quality cuddle time. Some prefer leaning against you, others want full snuggle sessions, and a few just enjoy being near their favorite humans.

Every dog has their own love language — what's your dog's preferred way to show and receive affection?

As outdoor time decreases, indoor comfort becomes crucial!

Ensure your pet has cozy resting spots away from drafts, adequate mental stimulation for longer indoor hours, comfortable bedding that's easy to wash, and appropriate indoor exercise options. Cats especially appreciate vertical spaces and window perches for entertainment.

What's your pet's favorite indoor comfort spot?
