Happy Jack Cats, Inc.

Happy Jack Cats, Inc. We provide foster homes for community kittens, rehab them, & find permanent homes for them. Indoor homes only. No declawing. We Save Kittens! Throwaway kittens!

All animals are spayed/neutered, FIV/FeLV tested, get age appropriate vaccines, are microchipped, and treated for parasites. The people (and Jack) at Happy Jack Cats, Inc., an Idaho Nonprofit Organization, have found that there is one area of animal rescue that is not addressed by anyone in our community. That is the problem of throwaway kittens. So we are doing something aBout it. What a terrible

concept, but its literally true. These are the kittens the are abandoned, abused by cruel people, born to stray mothers in sheds and woodpiles, used as snake food or dog bait, orphaned when their mothers are hit by cars, and just plain die of hunger and exposure. Most throw away kittens have brutal backstories, and we have seen some awful things. No matter how you feel about cats, this is a community problem and, in our eyes a community disgrace, because these babies are the most innocent of the innocent. Here’s how we are dealing with it. Kittens come to us in various ways. One common story is, “ I found this little kitten. Its very young, and I don’t know what to do”. Okay. Bring it to us. We do know what to do. It doesn’t really matter how the kittens come to us. They just come. These little ones are so happy to be in a warm room, with a soft blanket to sleep on, and wonder of wonders, plenty of food. Heaven! After each kitten is parasite free, socialized, and spayed or neutered, we find the best possible adoptive home for her or him. We screen all prospective adopters. Some of our kittens are helping out persons with developmental disabilities. At least two of our cats work with professional therapists. Some kittens are the companions of the elderly, and others are playmates for children. Often Happy Jack’s kittens ease the pain of a beloved pet’s dying by filling that empty spot, and others comfort someone who is simply lonely. Some adopters just want a beautiful, affectionate creature to share their home. There are as many reasons for adopting a kitten, as there are adopters. We thought we are just saving kittens, but, as it turns out, we help people too. Remember these are the throw aways. What a terrible waste? We charge the new pet owner a re-homing fee to help defray the cost of the animal’s care, but its never enough. That’s where the community comes in. That’s you. Please help us by donating a fortune to Happy Jack Cats, Inc. Okay, if you don’t have a fortune, how about whatever you feel comfortable with. We appreciate every penny. It breaks our hearts to have to turn any of these babies away because of lack of funds. Cheeto and Gia, brother and sister, would benefit from being adopted together; if you are their adoptive family, so would you. Two kittens together are much easier than a single kitten. They are good company for each other, and lonely, bored kittens can get into mischief. If you would like to meet these two, follow this link and fill out a Potential Adopter Worksheet: https://happyjackcats.org/adopt.

WILLOW HAS BEEN ADOPTED!
She pretty and sweet, and we are so glad for her. She is an all-grown-up adult, so it just took a bit longer to get her settled in a forever home. When a family adopts a kitten, time reveals its personality. When an adult cat is adopted the adopter can know the animal’s personality from day one. That’s one of the advantages of adopting an older cat. That’s what happened with Willow. Her great personality was there for all to see.

AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ADOPTION: Simone and Peyton. These two six-week-old females will be spayed on June 29th, but their foster will be leaving on July 1st. Peyton has an outgoing, playful personality, and Simone is more reserved. They complement each other and would make the perfect pair. Simone has matching white mittens, and Peyton apparently has “lost her mittens.” If you would like to meet them, follow this link and fill out a Potential Adopter Worksheet, and we will get back to you: https://happyjackcats.org/adopt.

Moppet is up-and-coming. We thought you would like to see him because he's so cute; he's sweet too and a bottle baby. Moppet and his brothers—two red tabbies—are being socialized by our youngest volunteer, who is almost five; she's doing a great job!
Moppet is not big enough to be adopted yet, but he's growing fast. One of these days, not so far in the future, he'll need a forever home. We'll let you know in a post when that happens. Wait to apply
Moppet’s buddies are Cheeto and P**f. They are all brothers.

THIS IS A SHOUTOUT to the medical professionals who care for our animals. Our vet treated both Boone (yellow kitten) and Freya (black & white) after business hours. I’m sure after a day's work they would like to go home to their families like everybody else, but they have big, soft hearts, so they took the time to treat these two.

Freya was spayed so that she could be offered for adoption as soon as possible, but Boone had been mauled—possibly by a raccoon. He was in pain and had bite wounds all over him—some infected—and a particularly bad gash on his leg. He was in a bad way and needed immediate help. Pain meds and many stitches later, he owes his life to the veterinary team at Animal Medical Center.

If Boone had the ability, he would be thanking his lucky stars, but he doesn’t, so we are doing it for him. Thanks, folks! You’re the best!

It seems like Boone may be the only survivor of his litter. Spay and neuter your cats!
