I’m pretty sure this girl is definitely going to be my keeper for this season. This is Doe number two from Lilac Bliss’s litter. It doesn’t help that her sister is just as pretty. 🤩

Lilac Bliss was unfortunately one of the does that passed at the beginning of the season. This is one of the two Does from her litter I’m biting my nails off trying to decide if she hops or if she stays. 😬 What do you guys think?

To all of those that follow this page..
Yes, there is still going to be a drawing for a 4H Creme D’Argent within the next few days. Some things happened and this page was pushed to the back burner. To all of you still paying attention, you can still participate until this upcoming Friday which is September 5th,2025. Just find the post on this page and follow the instructions. Secondly, it has been raining 🌧️ nonstop for months now. I have finally had a break with the rain to evaluate and tattoo everyone who may be staying or going. There are a few I will be retaining because I want to continue my progress and breeding program with some daughters of the 3 does that unfortunately passed away at the beginning of this year. Photos soon to come for everyone within the next day. So keep an eye on Black Briar Rabbitry folks! Bucks and does will be hitting the ground running. 😉

Tinker Bell crossed the Rainbow Bridge. She had seven kits that I will be retaining until further notice in order to continue our weight gain project. Tinker Bell was definitely the result of all the hard work put towards that goal and with her being an amazing 9 1/2 lbs. at only 5 months and a little over 12 lbs. when she passed away.
She will be gone but definitely not forgotten.

It has been a great start for our herd this year with a good handful of litters that made their appearance these last few months. But sometimes for reasons unknown there are tragic events that happen as well. This year, the universe seems to be dealing our Rabbitry a crappy deck.

First loss of the year was one of our homegrown girls and almost all of her litter. The entire loss was due to a sudden onset of bloat. We did manage to save two kits that will be retained to keep our program and progress going.

Our second loss was a momma that passed because of a dog attack. So we had to foster her kits between two other does. (They are doing wonderfully btw)

And our third issue in 3 months consecutively, I found my prized doe Tinker Bell without the use of her hind legs this afternoon. (She was fine yesterday) But I’m going to have to make a decision soon on what to do with her. She has 7 kits that are not yet ready to start eating and need mother’s milk for another 3 weeks at least. We are taking this hit hard and understand it happens sometimes. But if Tinker Bell has to pass over the Rainbow Bridge this will be a hard hit for us. Loosing 3 wonderful does in three moths.

You can’t win them all. And when you do it seems like the reaper comes back to humble you.

4H Drawing! Like and Share this post, follow this page and tag a friend to enter. I will close the Drawing at the end of May. The Drawing will take place on Saturday May 31st. 2025. This Drawing is for a child/teen to enter and win a Pedigreed Creme D’Argent that will give them an opportunity to start their own herd! I wanted to give to the community this year! Help me reach my goal! The parent or child must be able to prove they are enrolled in a 4H group. Best of luck to you all!

Mr. Fortune will be the last darling looking for a new barn at this time. He peaks a little early and is lacking a little in loin. But the has it made everywhere else. Beautiful Boy! Sire was a buck from Gary Gislan I will be retiring from my barn soon.

Well poo… the weather this last fall and winter has been utterly ridiculous. I’m over it. More ice and snow along with single digits. Could we not?😩

Retained.

Lilac Bliss is a big beast of a doe. Bred from a buck I have from Gary Gislan’s lines. She has great width, depth and pretty good type too! With this doe her ears are a little thin but paired with the right buck you will have some amazing kits. She has great color in her coat too!

PENDING

Bloom would be a very nice Brood Gal. Another Big girl from a buck I have from Gary Gislan’s lines! Great shoulder and type. Good depth too. Could have a better ear base and thicker ears. But will make a great pairing with a buck that will make up for that. She has decent width as well! 😉

Soo, we have had a crazy end to 2024. Lots of rain and then, here we are in January being snowed in. 🙄 Can’t catch a break to be able to take good pictures of my fur babies. 😫 I’m one of those people that can’t wait for warmer weather and the Spring Projects to commence.
