Arabesque seems to be handling the loss of her pasture buddy Qpid. I’m trying to figure out who else I can safely put out with her so that she has a friend again. She’s 29 and blind in one eye - so it can’t be anyone who will pick on her too much.

Picked Casa up from her 3 week vacation at her actual owner’s farm yesterday. Coordinated that with riding at Big Hill Pond. Guardian did great! She just needs to pay attention to her feet more (oh oops - that was the edge of a rutted trail I just stepped into); and keep working on sitting on the downhills. She says that’s work.

Qpid of Baskalraf 2/9/1999 - 8/2/2025.
I owned Qpid for the last 6/7 years, but knew him for many years prior to that. He was owned by a good friend and was her first endurance horse, then I leased him as a lesson horse for several years, then he was owned by another friend who bought him partially because he was a horse that would be safe around wheelchairs…. Then later I bought him and he’s been here ever since.
He was shown some in his youth, and was supposed to even be trained to drive; but I first knew him as an endurance horse. He preferred the ‘Luxury Distance’ and his owner wanted to do 50’s so that’s when his career shifted to lesson horse/kid horse. There he was a shining star. He taught countless people the basics of riding, and took care of them as he did so. His only real quirk was wanting to hop wet ditches and dodge puddles - he wasn’t a fan of getting his toes wet - but even that he eventually overcame.
He was a goober with a ton of personality but also a ton of patience…
We will miss him.
Gallop across that rainbow bridge Q - you have a lot of friends that will be there to greet you.

😞 At 6:34 this morning my barn cameras show Qpid walking across the pasture and off camera (upper left and then across the top of the video). A little before 7 am I went out to feed breakfast and found him gone. He picked his own time to cross the rainbow bridge. No signs of a struggle- it looks like he just lay down and went.
A whole lot of people will miss this old man 😞.

We just heard through the buzzing of The Bearded Beekeepers hive that not only will bees be at the Farm tomorrow but so will Mystic Rose Arabians with a horse! 🐴
Rodney's, KO Kones and FrostBite Ice Cream will be serving up some snacks and drinks to help you beat the heat while shopping the last Germantown Farmers Market of the season in conjunction with Children's Entrepreneur Market!
